About the role
As Head of Beauty, you will lead the end-to-end commercial agenda for Dyson’s Beauty category across Dryers, Stylers and Straighteners. Within the broader Beauty strategy, you will shape category strategy and market positioning, translating these into cross-functional initiatives and clear priorities for product propositions, claims, pricing, storytelling and marketing to drive commercial growth across markets.
Working closely with Engineering, Product, Marketing and Market teams, you will provide commercial leadership across the full product lifecycle—from shaping future product opportunities and development propositions to go-to-market execution, campaigns and in-market performance. This is broader than a development role: you will connect product and consumer understanding with commercial decisions and market-level action.
You will have a small but mighty team to manage the 3 sub-categories as well as a wider ecosystem of supporting functions. Ability to work cross-functionally is imperative as this role will have many different touch points through the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy and Commercial Ownership
- Lead the commercial strategy for Beauty across Dryers, Stylers and Straighteners, setting clear category and sub-category priorities.
- Build a deep understanding of consumer needs, competitive activity and market dynamics to identify growth opportunities and gaps in the portfolio.
- Define how Dyson Beauty is positioned in the market, aligning product propositions, pricing, claims, storytelling and marketing focus.
- Translate category opportunities into clear commercial priorities and briefs for cross-functional teams.
Product Development and Portfolio Direction
- Partner with Engineering and Product teams to shape which products are brought to market, ensuring consumer needs and commercial opportunities inform product decisions.
- Lead the commercial contribution to new product development and introduction, defining pricing and compelling product propositions.
- Work closely with technical teams on product benefits and claims, ensuring differentiation is clear and supported by appropriate evidence.
- Connect future product plans with market feedback and in-market learning to strengthen the Beauty portfolio.
Go-to-Market and Category Storytelling
- Lead the category’s commercial go-to-market direction, establishing clear claims, benefits, value propositions and market positioning.
- Partner with Marketing, Campaign and Creative teams to shape the core campaign idea, messaging and product story.
- Ensure product launches connect technical advantages with relevant consumer benefits and a clear commercial proposition.
- Align global and local teams on category priorities, maintaining consistent positioning whilst responding to market needs.
Category Performance and Market Action
- Monitor sales volumes and commercial performance across sub-categories and markets, understanding what is selling and where performance gaps exist.
- Work with Market teams to diagnose challenges, identify opportunities and drive targeted actions to improve category performance.
- Use consumer insights, market feedback and performance data to refine pricing, propositions, messaging and activation priorities.
- Partner with the demand planning and forecasting team to inform commercial discussions, whilst maintaining clear separation of planning ownership.
- Lead category-related special projects as required.
Team and Cross-Functional Leadership
- Lead and develop three direct reports, including two Senior Commercial Managers, setting clear objectives and accountabilities across the Beauty agenda.
- Build strong partnerships across Engineering, Product, Marketing, Finance, Operations and Market teams to align commercial decisions and delivery.
- Influence stakeholders through consumer understanding, data-led insight and sound commercial judgement.
- Represent the Beauty category in broader functional leadership discussions, contributing commercial insight to shared priorities and negotiating cross-functional alignment on critical category issues.
- Communicate category priorities, performance, risks and recommended actions clearly to senior stakeholders.
