Responsibilities
This is an individual contributor role positioned within Procurement and acting as linking pin between Research Design Development, Suppliers and the Commercial teams. You are the Procurement representative for your Product Category and Joint Development Model projects.
The projects and problem-solving activities you will be involved in are complex and time sensitive, requiring strong decision-making skills and the ability to see solutions where others may not. You need to manage supplier activities in project delivery, including managing Outsourced suppliers, and Ensuring Best-of-Benchmark for component suppliers and work across cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Procurement representative within the New Product Development projects, bringing the newest Dyson innovations to the market.
- Key liaison and PIC (person in charge) managing the relationship between Dyson and with the assigned suppliers for allocated category and projects.
- Drive cost improvement with the suppliers on finished good & component level, via negotiation and value engineering.
- Manage, communicate, and drive regular and / or ad-hoc meetings and discussions with Operations, Commercial, Finance, Engineering, Project and Technical teams and ensure objectives are achieved that are in line with Dyson’s Company’s best interests
- Proactively provide advice to the cross-function team and proper business & operational decisions can be made. Translate the sourcing strategy into actions.
- Provide guidance to both internal and external parties in achieving Dyson’s commercial objectives.
- Drive design to cost – looking to achieve the optimal technology at the optimal cost, have a strong sense of “should cost”.
- Lead supplier scouting and technology scouting for assigned categories.
Key deliverables
- Support negotiations for product cost for finished goods and component suppliers, ensuring strong competition between suppliers.
- Tasks, issues, claims, and communications are completed within the given timeframe, while achieving the objectives, especially with regards to delivering projects on time, on cost, on quality, in full.
- Management of both external and internal stakeholders, feedback on the market trend/technology upgrade and optimize the cost structure with smart design
- Team player with motivation and willingness to go above and beyond your scope of work
About you
- At least 10 years’ experience within the procurement function
- Have knowledge & experiences in Electronics or Home Appliance industry and be familiar with Electrical and Mechanical components and suppliers.
- Skilled in Design-for-Excellence (DFX), Value Analysis and Value Engineering methodology.
- Strong background within a Manufacturing/ Engineering environment, preferably with knowledge of lean methodologies.
- Experienced in dealing with ODM/Joint Development Model sourcing models
- Understanding and experience of Global procurement & Legal regulations
- Excellent communicator; able to present update and challengers in a clear and concise manner. In a spoken, written, and presentation setting
- Capable in planning and project management
- Comfortable with a fast-paced and intellectually challenging work environment, being resilient and able to handle pressure
