JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Software Product Manager

The Role:

As a Software Product Manager, you’ll act as the bridge between internal teams, JDM suppliers, and the Software Architect. You interface externally with stakeholders, users, and customers to define what problems need to be solved, ensuring the team is always addressing real user needs. You represent the Voice of our Customers, Users, and Stakeholders, turning feedback and insight into actionable priorities.

You’ll determine which engineering teams should tackle each solution and the order of execution, staying product and delivery focused at a high level. You’re accountable for making sure all blocks of work are clearly defined, prioritised, estimated, and committed to milestone delivery dates. You’ll collaborate effectively with the project manager, design manager, and system engineer to ensure clear planning and requirements alignment across all functions. Your attention to detail and proactive approach keep roadmaps and releases on track, delivering the highest value.

You’ll shape product software requirements, define clear roadmaps, and ensure successful software delivery—from concept to launch—while maintaining transparent communication throughout. Building strong relationships and maintaining a customer-centric mindset is core to this role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Software Architect to develop product strategy, design, and technical requirements.
  • Interface externally with stakeholders, users, and customers to define needs and communicate solutions.
  • Work directly with internal teams and JDM suppliers to translate business and customer needs into actionable software plans.
  • Decide which engineering teams should develop which solutions, and define the order of execution.
  • Ensure features are well defined, including detailed acceptance criteria.
  • Define, refine, and prioritise feature requirements—with a clear focus on connectivity, usability, and reliability.
  • Manage change—track new requests, evaluate impacts, and ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Manage product backlogs, set release goals, and oversee the full product lifecycle.
  • Track progress, identify risks, and resolve issues quickly—ensuring proactive course correction.
  • Facilitate stakeholder discussions, balancing competing requirements to guide the best solutions.
  • Engage with the project manager, design manager, and system engineer for coordinated planning, scheduling, and requirement management.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across engineering, business, and JDM partner teams.
  • Maintain clear, consistent communication—including concise product documentation and status updates.
  • Ensure work blocks are clearly defined, prioritised, estimated, and committed to milestone delivery dates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years’ experience in software product management or project management roles.
  • Proven experience managing software development with external suppliers (JDM, OEM) and internal teams.
  • Familiarity with IoT, connectivity (Wi-Fi/BLE), and consumer electronics software platforms.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development and lifecycle management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
  • Skilled at converting business and user goals into actionable technical requirements.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive problem-solver, and excellent communicator—written and verbal.
  • Experience working alongside technical architects, project managers, design managers, and system engineers.
  • Able to build relationships and motivate teams toward shared goals.
  • Reasonable knowledge of secure software development principles and practices.
  • Experience in open-source software management, including license compliance and risk assessment.
