Role Introduction

You will be working closely with procurement, engineering, manufacturing, finance  and research in order to establish Development portfolio products cost and to identify supporting Cost avoidance initiatives.

 

You would be located in Malaysia office and reports to Product Cost Manager

Strategic Impact and Decision Making

Build ground up cost estimates for new projects currently being developed within Research Design and Development (RDD).

Conduct reviews with Engineering to calculate future product costs and understand the associated risks and opportunities which could impact a product as it progresses through the development cycle.

Use your experience and knowledge to influence product, assembly, and component design to reduce cost where possible.

Work closely with (challenge) Engineering, Operations, Procurement and Finance to agree and report DDU Targets and current performance.

Incorporate impact of full Product lifecycle of products into NPI/NPD portfolio and strategic long term planning 

Interrogate and challenge (where appropriate) DDU inputs and work with various functional leads across Procurement, Design, Manufacturing to ensure accurate inputs!

 

Knowledge and Specialist Skills

 Individual is responsible for group of Small to Medium projects, with critical importance to the specific Business Unit. Working with Operations and Design Manager You would be also responsible to lead preparation of Product Cost position improvement plans.

Knowledge and Specialist Skills

 An engineering / manufacturing/ cost accounting degree with previous experience in a product cost engineering role.

 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional senior stakeholders

 

Strong financial analysis skills including experience in Business Partnering, working in cross-functional environments, etc

 

Strategic and analytical thinking with the ability to develop and implement credible Product Cost optimisation plans

 

Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth environment and manage multiple priorities at the same time 

 

Ability to work under minimal supervision and be assertive

Operational Accountability

Cost Analysis and Reporting support of multiple projects across same Category

 

Support in delivery of organization KPIs.

About You:

 An engineering / manufacturing degree and preferably previous experience within a costing role.

Demonstrable analytical ability gained in a previous engineering role or similar technical discipline.

Experience of working with and influencing others outside of your immediate team.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to manage several projects at the same time and to work under pressure - often to tight deadlines.

A knowledge of Dyson products and the design and development process is beneficial but not essential.
