About Us
Research, Design, and Development (RDD) is Dyson’s engine room. It’s where our engineers challenge convention, build, test, fail, refine, and fail again—all to invent technology that solves the problems others ignore.
Based in our RDD Centre at Science Park, Singapore, you will join a global team delivering groundbreaking, trailblazing technologies to the world. Our team focuses heavily on collaborative innovation, working closely with external strategic partners to develop the core technologies—the very "organs"—that power our next generation of products.
About the Role
As a Senior/Lead Technology Engineer, you will hit the ground running on live, high-impact projects. You will take complete ownership of your deliverables within a larger global team while working directly alongside external strategic partners. In this role, you will explore, evaluate, and optimize pioneering engineering solutions while supporting, mentoring, and coaching junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Engineering: Generate, explore, and recommend advanced solutions at a technology level using a mix of analytical, numerical, and experimental methods.
Partner & Technology Management: Collaborate closely with external partners to co-develop and pave the way for immediate and future pipeline technologies across our product portfolio.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop cutting-edge capabilities that seamlessly integrate into product-level features.
Prototyping & Testing: Lead hands-on prototyping activities and design/execute rigorous test methods to validate and verify your engineering solutions.
Requirements & Documentation: Capture and document precise technical requirements, including Bills of Specifications (BoS), design documents, CAD models, and engineering drawings.
Lifecycle Support: Provide crucial engineering support for ongoing production, troubleshoot complex issues, introduce new variants, and drive reliability and cost-saving improvements.
About You
You are a proactive, hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and isn't afraid to challenge conventional thinking. You possess razor-sharp analytical problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the leadership traits necessary to drive technical packages forward.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Domain Expertise: 5+ years (9+ years for Lead) of relevant experience developing mechanical or electromechanical technologies, with specific, deep knowledge in designing heating systems and thermal technologies.
Partner Management: Proven experience working with or managing external partners, suppliers, or research institutes to co-develop technical solutions.
Project Management: Demonstrated ability to lead yourself and others in managing project deliverables and complex work packages at a system or product level.
Technical Toolkit: Proficiency in CAD tools for design, CAE software for simulation (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL), and numerical modeling/scripting tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python).
Testing & Analysis: Strong background in characterizing mechanical and electromechanical performance, alongside a structured approach to performing deep-dive failure analysis on complex systems.
