Dyson waited for exactly the right opportunity to enter China in 2012, launching with a bang and heading directly to the top of the market within four months. Despite early success, China is still full of challenges. But our growing team of 50 people are ready for the task – chasing every opportunity, protecting Dyson technology and thinking creatively to communicate our superiority.
The Bridge 8 in downtown Shanghai is an area that epitomises the best of the city’s creativity and industrial design. Surrounded by designers and artists, Huang Pu provides the perfect backdrop for the Dyson China story to unfold.
The office is open plan with natural light, gentle breezes and walls decorated with Dyson technology successes. Stylish meeting spaces abound or, for more informal discussions, the downstairs coffee shop is a favourite setting. There’s no doubt, the pride of the office is the Dyson demo space, where all the latest Dyson technology is displayed and tinkering is actively encouraged.
The location is superbly convenient for food and transport. Hearty breakfasts are available at the café across the road, where you’re sure to bump into Dyson people. For lunch you can find anything from local xiao long bao to western cuisine close by. Two metro stations – South Xizhang Road station and Luban Road station – are within strolling distance. And there’s also a supermarket and gym within a 10 minute walk.
In one of Dyson’s quickest growing markets, it goes without saying that weeks are busy and exciting. But the team still makes time to celebrate personal achievements and sports–lovers often get together on weekends to play basketball.
