About us
Dyson are looking for a 3D Motion Designer at our Hullavington campus. As a 3D Motion Designer, you will work within the Global Design and Product Experience team, bringing to life user interfaces for on-product screens and the Dyson Link App.
You will challenge the expected and push the boundaries of 3D rendering and 3D animation. You will work with an incredibly diverse design team consisting of Industrial Design, CMF, Modelling, UI, UX, Connectivity, and other creative talents.
About the role
Responsible for conceptualisation, development, production, compositing and delivery of 3D animations for app and UI.
Construct physically based, photorealistic materials and map them onto surfaces using UV’s.
Tell a clean story with 3D animation whilst taking the time to understand the requirements of the target UI platform and device hardware.
Develop a strong working relationship with Design and Creative teams across the business, as well as Design Engineers to ensure intended product experience is demonstrated in your conceptual and final animations.
Use cutting edge rendering techniques in harmony with modern compositing software to grade and style your work to ensure it is on-brand and fit for purpose.
Facilitate creative thinking to demonstrate a wide variety of concepts.
Continually explore enhancements to improve the efficiency of your workflow.
Explore new avenues for development while pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved.
The ability to be flexible within your role and your skills is a key element to the success of the team.
About you
A degree in Game Design, 3D Animation, Industrial Design, or equivalent.
Spent time in the industry with real applied experience.
Skilled in ray-traced rendering software (Maya & VRay).
Skilled in data prep, lighting, texturing, and animation.
Proficient in video editing software (Nuke, After Effects etc).
Proficient in image editing software (Adobe Photoshop, Nuke etc).
Knowledge of 3D poly-modelling software a bonus (3DS Max, Maya, Blender etc).
Knowledge of 3D CAD applications a bonus (NX, Rhino, Alias, Solidworks etc).
2D motion design skills advantageous but not required.
Skilled in real-time rendering software (VRED, Unreal engine etc) advantageous but not required.
Excellent communicator with the ability to clearly present ideas both verbally and visually.
Assertive and diplomatic – a great collaborator and receptive of constructive criticism.
