Business Intelligence Analysts blend available historical data, and perform analysis to support business decisions. They use development tools to generate reports, dashboards and analytical solutions according to business rules and specifications. They also support the design, implementation and maintenance of data flow channels and data processing systems in a scalable, repeatable and secure manner. They focus on collecting, parsing, managing, analysing and visualising data to turn information into insights accessible through multiple platforms.


They enjoy working with data and display willingness to learn. They adopt an analytical approach to solving problems and display confidence when communicating ideas. They are passionate about numbers and work with data. They have a keenness for understanding business processes and resolving challenges in order to provide solutions with the help of clean and interlinked databases and architectures.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Data Collection
    1. Recommend types of data and internal and external data sources needed to measure and/or predict outcomes
    2. Integrate multiple data sets to build large and complex data sets
  2. Data Processing
    1. Develop automated data collection, logical data models, data analysis processes, data releasing and reporting tools
    2. Support the building of data flow channels and processing systems to extract, transform, load and integrate data from various sources
    3. Develop complex code, scripts and data pipelines to process structured and unstructured data in near real-time
  3. Data Governance
    1. Validate data, their sources, their methods of preparation, and their quality
    2. Clean databases to remove duplicated, outdated or irrelevant information
  4. Information Systems Design: Conduct research on hardware and software needs to support selected solutions
  5. Information Systems Implementation
    1. Assist with the integration of data systems with existing infrastructure, and with rollouts, upgrades, implementation and release of data system changes
    2. Automate processes focusing on repeatability and reliability
    3. Develop prototypes and proof of concepts for the selected solutions
    4. Develop solutions and recommendations to address information need
  6. Information Systems Maintenance: Monitor data system performance
  7. Business Analytics
    1. Deploy quantitative models across different channels and customer platforms
    2. Work with development team to build tools to accelerate and automate searching, data visualisation, and advanced analytics
  8. Business Problem Framing: Work with stakeholders to understand needs for data structure, availability and accessibility
  9. Analytics Problem Framing: Support the translation of data needs into technical system requirements
  10. Project Planning: Plan project timelines and resources needed
  11. Project Closure
    1. Prepare documentation to outline data sources, models and algorithms used and developed
    2. Assist with the development of actionable recommendations


  • A Science-Technology-Engineering-Mathematics (STEM) -related university degree
  • At least two years of related work experience in
    • Developing visual standard reports using business intelligence technologies (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Qlik)
    • Retrieving, inserting, updating, and deleting non-hierarchical and hierarchical records using SQL
    • Implementing views, and creating stored procedures, triggers, and user-defined functions in a RDBMS (e.g. SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL)
    • Designing and implementing normalized relational database schemas
    • Programming in one or more languages such as Python, C++, Java, C, C#, R, JavaScript, and/or Go to scrape web sites; manipulate Excel spreadsheets, PDFs, Word documents, CSV files, JSON data, and RDBMS; keep time, schedule tasks, and launch programs; send emails and text messages; manipulate images; and control the keyboard and mouse with GUI automation


Preference will be given to candidates with development experience in

  • Virtualized environments (e.g. Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform)
  • Data processing software (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive)
  • Big data, and information retrieval, with modern web technologies (e.g. NoSQL, and MongoDB)
