Data Warehouse Engineer

This role sits within the Global Data Services (GDS) team, who are responsible for ensuring that the various parts of Dyson’s business are able to leverage rich, accurate and timely data to generate insights and make better decisions. As part of the wider IT team, GDS are investing heavily in the company’s analytical capabilities, so as to grow this data into a strategic asset. The Microsoft team are a core component of GDS, responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of several data warehouse applications built using the Microsoft BI stack. The team develop solutions to manage data, provide information and generate insights for commercial and engineering teams worldwide.


As a Data Warehouse Engineer within the Microsoft team, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the existing Microsoft BI environment. This will include, but is not limited to:
  • Engaging with stakeholders to understand business requirements 
  • Designing solutions to meet those requirements 
  • Developing, testing and deploying solutions to ensure those requirements are met 
  • Investigating and resolving issues that occur in a timely manner and to a high standard 
  • Working with the wider Data Engineering teams in GDS to future proof the technology stack for the medium-long term.


  • Strong SQL / T-SQL skills are essential 
  • Proven experience working with Microsoft BI Stack (SSIS, SSAS and SSRS) within Visual Studio IDE
  • Proven experience delivering Data Warehouse / Business Intelligence solutions, 
  • A good understanding of Kimball Dimensional Modelling methodology
  • Experience with centralised and distributed version control software e.g. TFS / GIT 
  • Experience with agile tools & methodologies e.g. Kanban boards 
  • An understanding of Database Administration processes & methodologies.
  • Some knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau / Looker / SSRS would be desirable
  • Exposure to cloud database platforms such as Google BigQuery are also desirable
  • Some knowledge of Python / C# would be advantageous but not essential
