Description

Dyson has an opportunity for an Engineer to join their growing automotive group, based at their Electric Vehicle design office in Singapore. This Engineer will be responsible for aerodynamic optimization of the cabin HVAC system through computer simulation to support product development through to production. The engineer must have a high level of experience with both CADamodelling and CFD analysis to optimize the geometry for guiding, mixing and distributing air with low resistance.

Accountabilities

  • Lead aero-acoustic optimization of plastic parts forming the vehicle cabin airflow system
  • Create and adapt CAD models for analysis including geometry/design changes, part cleanup and meshing
  • Generate innovative concepts for new technologies using analytical techniques
  • Trial and improve internal automated processing and simulation scripts
  • Provide reports of target compatibility in time for engineering milestones with results stored in Siemens Teamcenter
  • Work within the wider engineering team, and with other cross-functional areas both internal and external, to ensure system integration and compatibility
  • Ensure all work carried out is in compliance with company design, safety, quality, environmental compliance and  standards

Skills

Person specification:
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (other relevant engineering disciplines will be considered)
  • Proven experience modelling aerothermal system interactions using simulation packages, preferably with ANSYS Fluent
  • CAD design and engineering experience using Siemens NX or similar CAD tools
  • Excellent fundamental understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics principles; specifically airflow and heat transfer
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues in an appropriately detailed, but concise and accurate fashion, both in writing and verbally
  • Able to multi-task and plan effectively when working with a variety of teams in an often high-pressure, competitive environment
  • Self-starter; ability to work independently, take on new challenges readily, possess a hands-on approach and a can-do attitude
  • PC literacy, MS excel, power point, word and excellent team-working skills


Desirable skills:
  • Knowledge of automotive best practices, materials, manufacturing requirements, assembly processes, mechanical properties and failure mechanisms, will be looked upon favorably
  • Familiarity with Linux and cluster computing
  • CFD shape optimization with adjoint solver or similar
  • Experience with fluid dynamic experiments to verify virtual testing
