Description

As Director Professional, you are leading the German Professional team. As a member of the management team the role is pivotal to driving the B2B success through strategic analysis, business development with a focus on direct and accurate submission of financial reports. The role looks for continuous improvement, new ideas and chances to drive the success of the market. The role reports directly into the EMEA General Manager and collaborates with the wider global Dyson Professional team to develop new efficient global ways of working that enable Dyson’s rapid change and transformation up to 2020 and beyond.

Accountabilities

Develop and execute the business model for Dyson Professional in Germany

  • As a key member of the Professional leadership team, contribute to global strategic development and initiatives providing market insight and influence into the overall business direction
  • Lead full P&L for the German Professional division, driving profitability, delivering against agreed financial targets and managing operation costs; reporting to the wider business on a regular basis
  • Development, communication and implementation of the German strategy linked into Global strategy achieved by analysing current position, scoping future opportunities and implementing agreed plans

Define strategic plans by channel and partners

  • Create an effective strategy covering key channels including direct to unlock and maximise profitable sales opportunities
  • Develop conditional trading terms and pricing strategy to effectively engage and drive results via both partners and direct clients, overseeing the alignment to global strategy
  • Ensure effective trade execution plans are in place to deliver against strategic initiatives both via Dyson team and partner teams
  • Lead key account activities, making key visits to local partners to explore specific needs and anticipating new opportunities
  • Generate new business leads and relationships with German customers
  • Manage end-customer and partner contact at all levels
  • Develop third party relationships and delivery of individual channel strategies for the trade across Germany
  • Responsibility and accountability for all customer terms and conditions
    Support both the strategic and operational after-sales and service strategy in line with global approaches

Lead and motivate cross functional teams

  • Inspire, lead and motivate teams of Sales,  Marketing, Finance and Operations specialists through regular feedback, personal development plans and objectives
  • Working within a matrix structure via the central cross functional team, drive Professional category leadership to ensure team members’ approach is results driven and solutions oriented and that key sales channels are optimized
  • Ensure alignment of Sales and Marketing approach in Germany dovetails with Professional division and Dyson global
  • Drive Marketing move to digital excellence to ensure success in the German market
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing and best-practice from Germany to other geographies and in reverse; also striving to encourage  a culture of continuous improvement
  • Identify gaps in knowledge and skills in the team and build appropriate training solutions
  • In partnership with HR develop talent and succession plans as well as devise a clearly defined annual incentive scheme, setting targets and additional reward mechanisms to drive results

Skills

  • Degree educated or equivalent experience
  • Solid experience of working in a high performing sales team in consumer goods or B2B
  • Excellent team leadership abilities
  • Commercial – sales/marketing experience with proven delivery of sales results
  • Operate effectively in a matrix management environment
  • Able to adopt a ‘sleeves rolled up’ approach in implementation of strategy
  • Calm, logical, comfortable with all levels
  • Sensibilities to brands and category development
  • Credible in representing Dyson in the market, with major customers, third party partners, with professional associations; contributing as an senior executive and team player to the development and growth of the company in the context of broader ‘public relations’
  • Self-starting nature, with an energetic, engaging and a positive approach
  • Operating with a high level of integrity
  • Collaborative and interested in not only personal development but also in delivering team, divisional and Group ambitions
  • Strong awareness of cultural sensitivities
  • Willingness to travel within Germany and UK
  • Fluency in German & English
