The company has regenerated farmland and made significant investment in infrastructure, residential and commercial property, ensuring that core assets are protected and improved for the benefit of future generations. Dyson Farming has a strategy to add value to all the core enterprises and are looking for a Commercial Director to develop this further, working alongside the Operations Director and Finance Director. 

About the role

The Commercial Director will have direct responsibility for the Property, Leisure, Marketing and Advisory operations. They will be expected to take the lead in developing new commercial opportunities across these enterprises as well as supporting the wider company by taking ultimate project management responsibility for all projects and capital deployment, from property development to core infrastructure. In addition, this role will include the monitoring and development of Natural Capital Accounting, developing income streams from providing public goods, biodiversity and carbon management. The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating contractual agreements across the business to ensure that commercial terms support the Company’s strategic plan and that the demands and needs of all stakeholders are carefully considered. The Commercial Director will ensure awareness and compliance with statutory and non-statutory requirements across the business. 

About you

The successful candidate will: 

  • have proven experience in developing a commercial strategy;

  • have experience of identifying and implementing new b2b and b2c business opportunities;

  • be able to demonstrate strong project management experience and a proven track record in delivering projects within budget and on schedule; 

  • be experienced in complex contract negotiations;

  • have strong financial acumen and the ability to present detailed investment cases to the Company’s board;

  • demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence to successfully operate within a corporate structure with multiple stakeholders. 

Commercial leadership experience within the rural/agribusiness sector essential. Some knowledge of property management, renewables and natural capital would be useful but not essential.
