Finance Analyst - Direct

To deliver robust and insightful analysis of performance in the GB&I Direct Business by working closely with the GB&I Direct retail team to identify opportunities to improve delivery of key KPIs. 


1. Maintain, and where appropriate develop, key business intelligence for the GB&I business and cost centre managers
  • Build deep and comprehensive understanding of the key drivers in the GB&I Business with a particular focus on Direct Sales. 
  • Provide analysis of monthly gross margin and variances in relation to forecast
  • Produce and publish timely and succinct key insights for the GB&I Direct Team and influence decision making
  • Assist in the maintaining of the key reporting tools used in the Direct Retail Team 
  • Support the Cost Centre Managers in delivery of key operational projects through timely completion of business case analysis

2. Partner the Direct Business Managers and support Forecasting & Reporting (LE) process 
  • Have a key role in managing the trade promotions process and reporting systems
  • Work collaboratively with finance colleagues in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable to support the end to end process
  • Ensure cost control and purchase order compliance is maintained
  • Provide financial reconciliation of promotional investment and spend
  • Analyse return on investment on marketing activities, helping the business understand where to invest to drive the greatest return
  • Identify improvements in the investment appraisal process and develop new ways of working where appropriate

3. Assist and support in financial reporting for the wider GB&I market
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts on a monthly, annual and ad-hoc basis
  • Support month end journal preparation and postings for promotional investment 

4. Fulfil other duties as necessary
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and information as necessary
  • Provide cover and support within the team to maintain internal customer service levels in times of absence and workload prioritisation 
  • Identify problems and find solutions for existing processes


  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA) preferable, Part Qualified is also considered.
  • Very strong Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups
  • Strong track record of analysis in a business and financial environment 
  • Strong track records of project delivery 
  • Strong analytical skills, conversant with market research and data sources
  • Good presentation and persuasive skills
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent
  • Experience of SAP, Business Warehouse would be advantageous
