Finance Controller

Dyson Germany has been a key source of growth within the EU region in the past years. As part of this growth journey, our overhead costs have grown significantly as we have been investing substantially in our teams both in the office, in the field sales as well as in our customer journey. In addition to this, we have opened up our first stores in 2019 – in 2020 we are planning to open further stores to have a bigger retail footprint. 
Overheads Controller will play an elementary role to make sure we have proper controls in place for this important cost block. He /she will partner with all members of the German management team to drive clarity and accountability on their cost centers. In addition, collaboration with the European budget owners for call center and repair costs will be of great importance. 
This is a great role for someone who is in the beginning of his/her finance career to pivot to bigger roles.


Fully control the overheads budget
  • Very detailed and diligent business planning at cost center and GL level
  • Understanding actuals and conduct variance analysis vs budget and LE
  • Understand all different parts of overhead costs including stores, office, field as well as repair and shared service center
  • Develop a detailed understanding of all overhead relevant purchase orders, direct debits and recharges – establish controls around them
  • Ensure the right cost center structure is in place to enable right accountability across the management team
Business Partnering with German Management team
  • Be the go to person for all overhead related topics for the management team
  • Drive clarity and accountability on overheads budgets across the German management team
  • Enable the management team members to build their overheads budgets as part of the quarterly cycles
  • Ensure the members of the management team are well prepared to discuss the performance in the monthly reviews
  • Enable right decision making on overheads costs
Excellent planning and review process
  • Partner with Finance Center of Excellence to drive the Overheads Project forward to ensure that there is 100% clarity on all actuals including purchase orders, direct debits and x-charges
  • Ensure suitable tracking is in place to ensure full control on costs, clear reconciliations vs budget and LE
  • Play an important role in the month-end and year-end processes by providing monthly estimates prior to close as well as ensuring that the right accruals are made
  • Make sure all costs related to stores are captured so that store level profitability tracking is possible 


  • University Degree
  • Min 2 years experience of working in a high performing organization
  • First experience in Finance and systems understanding is beneficial
  • Evidence of budget control and can demonstrate financial expertise
  • Strategic planning capability
