About us

The Global Data Services team is tasked with ensuring that the various parts of Dyson’s business are able to leverage rich, accurate, and timely data to generate insights and make better decisions, whilst ensuring the wider Dyson analytics community is aligned to the Global IT governance and frameworks. Building this capability is a core pillar of Dyson’s global data strategy. As more consumers become Dyson owners, through advancing machines and across new markets, the volumes of data will greatly increase. Understanding how to use this data to improve everything from customer experiences to product development is a key focus for Dyson’s strategy.

About the role

As the Head of Data Science, you’ll ensure successful strategic definition and delivery of data products that revolutionise how Dyson makes business decisions and operates. You will foster a team of advanced data scientists worldwide that navigate through a myriad of data sources and needs to deliver actionable insight. 
This is an exciting role for someone who enjoys delivering technical excellence whilst collaborating across the organisation to dramatically reshape the data landscape. You’ll take the business on a journey by identifying opportunities and squeezing value from a wealth of data sources ranging from classic enterprise line of business data to bespoke manufacturing and product design data. You’ll research and develop effective models and products to deliver valuable insights to our commercial and engineering teams by embodying a collaborative approach to deliver technology solutions that enable tangible business benefits.

About you

You’ll be able to define and deliver strategy but you’ll have had hands on experience within statistical and practical data analysis, R/Python skills with a focus on statistical and ML packages and highly proficient in SQL. You’ll also have solid experience in building quantitative models and able to evaluate models on multiple criteria - e.g. accuracy, out-of-sample or cross validation tests. You’ll have experience of producing data artefacts that can be used by the business to drive value to operations, strategy, commercial, finance, manufacturing, etc. and have a passion to connect, motivate and bring your team together and the global community of data professionals.
