Description

The Head of HR will play both a strategic and hands-on delivery role. It is a unique opportunity to create the people strategy for the GB&I Markets, lead operational activity, and enable business growth and transformation as a member of the GB&I Executive Team. 
To support organisation development you will ensure the right roles, capabilities and culture are in place to deliver against our ambitious growth targets, and develop strategies that grow the contribution and performance of both markets. 
You will need to be a strong leader, able to act independently and make decisions, and at the same time  be part of the European HR Team and global Dyson people team regional and global projects. You will support, coach and develop a team of 7 HR Advisors and Business Partners to deliver the stretching agenda.  Effective collaboration with HR colleagues and the Centres of Expertise (talent acquisition, talent development and reward & operations) is important to its success. 

Accountabilities

  • As a member of the GB&I Executive team, contribute broadly to business discussions, debate and direction, challenging where appropriate and providing insights and data to drive better decisions.
  • Work in collaboration with the GB&I Managing Director and Senior Directors, providing support, coaching and challenge to deliver actions that will drive organisation performance, including development of their own leadership.
  • Develop and integrate the people agenda into market business plans and support delivery of the global People Blueprint. Ensure commercially-focused, pragmatic and efficient HR support is in place across the 2 markets.
  • Ensure the organisation design is fit for purpose and spot opportunities to evolve and reshape how the markets are set up and operate, to support their growth and increase their efficiency and effectiveness. Drive transformation, restructuring or cultural change projects as needed.
  • Build a world class talent pipeline, ensuring the right roles, capabilities and frameworks are in place to deliver. Constantly review business and people performance, ensure succession/capability risks are understood and managed, and tackle challenges and seize opportunities over the short and long term.  
  • Work with Centres of Expertise to ensure we have the right talent acquisition and effective hiring strategies in place; ensure teams are recruiting for the future as well as the now; and help build the Dyson employer brand. 
  • Work with local leadership and HR teams and the Centres of Expertise to implement talent development strategies and initiatives that enable Dyson to attract and retain the best. Spot and develop future leadership talent and facilitate talent moves and succession, both within the region and across global functional talent pools. Work with the senior leadership teams and HR business partners to identify key themes and action areas to engage employees and improve their experience.
  • Develop and champion a high performance culture across the region. Ensure market teams coach, influence, upskill and encourage senior leaders to provide clear direction, and line managers provide continuous feedback and development.  
  • As part of the extended global people leadership team, be an active member of the HR community globally, including participating in group-wide HR initiatives and global activities such as the People Survey and People Conference. Extend the skills of the regional HR Business Partners to ensure the team are increasingly influencing strategic development and growth. 

Skills

Ideal Experience
  • Degree calibre, Group or divisional HR leader, used to operating at a senior level - has worked as part of a senior leadership team whilst remaining deeply involved in the operational detail of the business 
  • Has operated at scale and complexity - in terms of structure, taking into account multi-geographical locations, and operational model (matrix environment)
  • Rounded generalist HR skillset with experience of all disciplines  - particular expertise in building world class talent, leading change and organisation development/ restructure to drive growth would be advantageous 
  • Strong change leadership experience - has provided frameworks, influence and challenge to senior teams to identify and drive through organisation change in a variety of scenarios
  • Experienced at working with speed, pragmatism and professionalism, ideally in an entrepreneurial culture
  • Experience of working in a digital or physical retail business  - or a business that has transformed/is transforming into a digital or direct retail environment. This could have been in a range of different sectors.
