Description

The Dyson Institute is working to become the best engineering university in the world, which develops the engineering leaders of the future. In order to realise this ambition, we need to appoint a Head of Leadership to develop and implement a leadership curriculum for all Undergraduates.

Accountabilities

  • As our Head of Leadership you will be responsible for building a leadership curriculum (to include workshops, camps, talks etc.) that runs from induction to graduation, ensuring that our Undergraduates realise their potential and are:
    • Commercially Astute - Have a strong appreciation of the operational and commercial workings of one of the most successful companies in the world
    • Radical Thinkers - Be unfettered, and able to imagine the future
    • Courageous - Have the bravery to do the right thing, no matter how hard
    • Doggedly Determined - Be able to plough on in the face of adversity. They’ll dig deeper where others would give up
    • Leading- Be able to create change for themselves and the world around them
    • Emotionally Intelligent - Be able to recognise their emotions and those of others, and manage/adjust their own to adapt to the environment and realise their ambitions
    • Respectful - Have deep-seated respect for difference, recognising that everyone is as they are for good reason
  • You will be responsible for the delivery of that leadership curriculum, with the support of other members of The Dyson Institute team, the wider Dyson business and third parties as appropriate
  • You’ll support the continuous professional development of Undergraduate Line Managers at The Dyson Institute, and the core Dyson Institute team
  • As a passionate leader, you will directly manage two Undergraduate Performance Coaches

Skills

  • As our Head of Leadership you will join us with significant leadership development experience, particularly in building leadership curriculums and delivering high-impact workshops
  • As our Head of Leadership you will come with significant coaching and development leadership experience in both business and educational environments
  • You will have extensive experience working with those in higher education or as part of a youth organisation, and understand how best to communicate and engage with undergraduates
  • You will also have a progressive leadership philosophy, as well as a certified coaching qualification
  • As a strong networker, you will demonstrate the ability to collaborate and build relationships outside of the Dyson Institute and within the wider Dyson business
  • You will have extensive people management experience, and be able to demonstrate how you have developed and progressed your teams
  • You’ll be educated to degree level or equivalent
