The Dyson Institute’s mission is to become the best engineering university in the world. The IT systems and infrastructure play large part in us delivering this. As IT Manager you will report to the Head of Business Relationship Management within the IT Strategy and Transformation Team, whilst supporting The Dyson Institute. You will be responsible for:


  • Acting as a valued business partner for the Dyson Institute of Engineering and Technology, implementing best practice and industry standards that help establish an innovative, solutions-focused and agile IT service
  • Driving the delivery of regional Information Technology (IT) that optimizes quality and cost efficient business and operational outcomes
  • Designing, developing, implementing and coordinating systems, policies and procedures in line with the global IT strategy, working closely with the wider global IT functions
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships across all functions of the business, with local and global stakeholders, and establishing creditability and expertise across the Leadership Team
  • Articulating strategy and new initiatives into actionable, sustainable and measurable plans
  • Define and deliver continuous improvement programmes so that, where applicable, systems deliver a continuously improving performance to the business
  • Support regular operational performance review meetings with the business to feedback on performance and discuss continuous improvement opportunities
  • Seek opportunities to improve service provision
  • Support with the escalation of major incidents
  • Agreeing costs, timescales and standards to be met and monitoring these through the project utilizing the established global IT project and programme management methodology
  • Maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
  • Planning, delivering and supporting IT infrastructure operations for The Dyson Institute
  • Providing leadership for delivery of 24/7 service operations and KPI compliance
  • Establishing and maintaining strong, strategic partnerships with vendors and service suppliers
  • Analysis of performance, leading to service changes and improvements to increase user outcomes/level of satisfaction/perceived value of the service


  • With experience in a similarly dynamic and complex organisation, you will have a proven working knowledge of leading an IT function in the region working as part of a global matrix managed team.
  • Strong business stakeholder management
  • Experienced in managing third parties
  • Experienced in working in a matrix management structured organization
  • Presentation skills – able to communicate confidently in front of a varied audience and to key internal and external stake holders including retailers and Dyson distributors
