Imagery Art Director

The role of the Image Art Director is to develop and perfect our stills and moving imagery, to support the graphic communication of Dyson marketing materials, for all media types, globally. 
 The role offers a high level of creative input, proactively leading on the development of your, and others work, from initial concept scamps through to the direction of photoshoots/3D creation and forming of final post production. In addition, while working closely with our creative teams, the image team, Team Leaders, Head of Art and external suppliers.
You will have a passionate interest in image making, with a driving desire to develop new looks and techniques to further strengthen the Image team’s creative capabilities, while promoting high-quality output and supporting Dyson’s drive to innovate. 
As a member of the image team you will display a high-level initiative and commitment to the team’s success. As an ambassador of how Dyson is presented to our audience, you will be flexible in your approach, with the ability to quickly adapt to change. We promote a culture of knowledge sharing across the team’s disciplines, essential for both personal growth and furthering skills development.


  • Take briefs from the imagery team producers and develop on brand creative solutions
  • Contribute both creative and technical ideas to projects from initial concept through to final output
  • Produce high quality, accurate imagery to the specification and timescales given
  • Support the Imagery Team in delivering work for a broad range of media types in time and to budget
  • Develop a strong working relationship with our creative teams
  • Provide creative solutions to possible technical issues that may occur during a project
  • Complete work within the timescales given and adhere to the daily planning of work
  • Actively encourage the ethos to think different
  • To contribute to the team’s development and well being
  • Explore new avenues for development while pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved
  • Give and take direction on the route/s chosen and at the right time. Build and improve upon creativity and quality

  • There will be other areas where support to the team and department will be required, dependent upon the individual’s role, this can encompass many things and will be outlined in the individual’s job specification.


A great analytical eye for; light, detail, colour, composition and storytelling. Structured, clear and concise communication, with a methodical and creative, solutions focussed work ethic. 
An excellent understanding of how light behaves in both real-world conditions and in studio settings, being able to contribute and facilitate the creation of high-end photorealistic imagery, whether physical or virtual. 
Storyboarding and pre-viz experience; being able to easily communicate a message or story in picture form is paramount. 
Ideally you will have skills in preparing and using Photoshop files to aid and lead the development of picture making.Good retouch skills with a thorough understanding of Adobe Photoshop and RGB to CMYK workflows are a benefit but not essential.
A strong desire to develop our creative and uphold quality are key, and go hand in hand with time keeping. Our deadlines are real; therefore, you must be able to cope with the pressures that these timings can impart, making sure we always drive creative and quality to an agreed timescale.
