India HR Lead

The role will be responsible for leading the people agenda for India, partnering closely with the India Leadership team and Global HR Teams

Location: Gurgaon, India

Reportees:  2 (Talent Acquisition Manager, HR Operations Manager)

Reporting to: Head of HR for MEA, SEA, India, ANZ

India overview

Asia is a key region for Dyson, the growth engine for the future.  Within that India is a unique and exciting market for the company in that we are completely Direct in the way we go –to-market, we don’t operate through distributors or retailers. We aim to hold the consumer experience closely and execute our sales and service channels flawlessly.


Sales Approach

We have built key direct channels in the country – Demos, Direct To Home sales, Dyson.In, direct seller on 3rd Party Online like Amazon, SIS and Salons and are currently expanding these to 5 key cities across the country


Category building

All our categories in India are evolving and we have tasked with building out / creating these nascent categories in the market by investing heavily in category building, insights and digital marketing. 


Customer Service

India has also established a Concierge owner experience team that provides in-home installation and repair services, along with our own Contact Center with voice, mail and chat processes.


HR overview

HR is a key influencer in shaping, driving and executing the business strategy for India since the entire business is managed by our Dyson people, expecting to grow to 53 people in HO and approximately 180 demonstrators by 2019 exit. 


  1. Key partner to the India Leadership Team

    • Actively contribute to the business strategy and execution decisions as a member of the India LT

    • Partner with India GM and LT on all people, talent and office administration matters

    • Coach and develop the India LT and India key talent


  2. HR expertise

    • Lead all people processes – HR ops, performance, talent, careers, TA etc

    • Lead performance , productivity and engagement of a large demonstrator field force across multiple cities, in collaboration with the sales leaders

    • Partner with global HR teams and contribute with thought leadership to global HR projects


  3. Culture & Engagement

    • Embed a consistent a High Performance culture across the organization in line with Dyson’s global culture

    • Create the right work environment to drive productivity across multiple Dyson offices


  4. Talent Acquisition & Capability building

    • Acquire the right talent to enable business growth by working closely with the business on fast paced expansion, onboarding and training of new resources

    • Build capability across the organization to deliver key business objectives – both through hiring and training

    • Build a consistent and high quality candidate experience and employer brand


  5. Talent management

    • Lead on talent and succession planning

    • Plan development of leaders and key talent


  6. People Management

    • Manage the India HR team – Talent Acquisition Manager and HR Operations Manager and supervise the India Office Manager

    • Build solid relationships with key managers, stakeholders and contacts across the business


  7. Policies and processes

    • Implement policies and processes that enable the business and align with the Dyson culture

    • Enable the HR team to provide advice and guidance that aligns with local legislation, best practice and Dyson culture


Experience and Education

  • Overall 10-15 years of experience in leading multi-national organizations

  • Experience should include HRBP experience with a senior stakeholder group

  • Experience should include driving change initiatives and working closely with global, matrixed teams

  • Experience leading a team is preferred

  • Master’s Degree in HR preferred

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong business partnering experience in a leading organization

  • Business and outcome focused HR practitioner

  • Broad thinker with strong analytical skills who can contribute meaningfully as part of the India LT outside of own function

  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast paced growth environment with frequent change and ambiguity – should have led change initiatives in the past

  • Work the matrix, collaborate with local and global stakeholders to land broader and larger impact

  • Passionate about Dyson, technology and engineering

  • Strong team player capable of building and motivating teams

  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mind-set and approach
