Materials Engineer / Polymers Engineer

As part of the materials team, you will lead activities related to the development of the latest light weighting material technologies in topics related to polymers, composites and adhesive bonding.


Responsible for developing material specifications/standards and respective test procedures. Liaise with suppliers to ensure that proposed material technologies comply with Dyson’s requirements and manage aspects of the project according to milestones and timeplans. Work in close collaboration with designers, NVH engineers, procurement and manufacturing engineering teams. Represent materials engineering team in design/product reviews related to polymeric/composite materials. Responsible for researching latest trends/technologies and proposing new material concepts Challenge and develop Dyson engineering practices to continuously improve design and material selection/development.


A degree in Chemistry or Materials Engineering.

Working experience in subjects related to: polymers, elastomers, adhesives, composites and material emissions of volatile organic compounds.

Good understanding of injection moulding and extrusion of non-metallics.

Experience on cross functional team working.

Previous experience automotive/aerospace preferred.

A creative and considered approach to problem solving.
