Description

Responsible for providing environmental leadership, challenge and direction across Dyson’s Automotive product category, You will be an internal and external vocal advocate towards supporting Dyson best in class journey towards environmental stewardship and sustainability. Reporting into our Global Director of Sustainability as part of the global Dyson sustainability team with a dotted line in to The VP of Automotive, this role will have specific focus on our automotive product.

Accountabilities

•Working closely with the leadership team you will hold responsibility for developing our vision & future product strategy for sustainability within Automotive including developing a resource plan to support departmental growth.

•Responsible for maintaining key sustainability metrics and reporting on live programs

•You will be the subject matter expert and primary point of contact for all strategic environmental management enquiries, advice, support, training and coaching. This will be enhanced through frequent and effective engagement & communication with the relevant management teams.

•Development and implementation of materials sustainability strategy for automotive, accounting for environmental impact and circularity opportunities as well as supply chain ESG risks (e.g. conflict minerals).

•Develop and deliver strategic programmes to promote and enhance employee and stakeholder environmental engagement linked to Dyson’s core values

•Utilise Life cycle assessment to generate quantified targets for future sustainability improvement plans and KPI’s. You will hold responsibility for implementing and cascading these targets across the automotive programme as well as developing policies, guidelines and the sustainability governance structure.

•Provide innovative environmental advice and support for design and operational management to the current and future Automotive teams and identify cost balanced solutions and opportunities.

•Lead global environmental management information, including any significant incidents, and advise the company on risk and a proportionate response .

•Build and manage relationships with external regulators, industry bodies and governmental agencies.

•Whilst ensuring Dyson maintains legal compliance and works towards best practice, the role holder will need to demonstrate flexibility in their approach and maintain a proactive can do attitude, working towards the success of the whole Dyson team and not just the functional area.

•Be an ambassador, vocal advocate, influencer and presence for Sustainability / CSER. •Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to build a network of connections both internally and externally. •Ability to work sensitively, discretely, and effectively across Dyson.

Skills

Experience / Requirements

•8+ years’ experience of leading automotive & manufacturing sustainability.

•Experience of working within an electric vehicle programme is essential.

•Environmental footprinting / life cycle assessment.

•Demonstrable evidence of creating and influencing environmental strategy and materiality assessment.

•Setting Science Based Targets.

•Implementing standards to certification such as ISO 14001, ISO 50001, ISO 26000.

•Project management experience.

•Strong organisational skills with a methodical and detailed approach.

•Ability to promoting sustainable thinking at design level.

•Understanding of human rights and standards from a global and regional perspective.

•Influence and partner with external stakeholders including relevant trade bodies or enforcing authorities in the development environmental standards and best practice.

•Must demonstrate a passion for working for Dyson. Qualifications / Professional Memberships

•Educated to degree level (Ideally scientific/engineering/property based)

•A recognised Environmental qualification. (At least level 5, preferably level 6).

•Demonstrable continuing professional development (CPD).

•Membership of professional bodies (e.g. IEMA)
