In order to support the Upstream (New Product Innovation & Research) teams, we're looking for a Programme Manager to coordinate projects to support our future range plans. This role will be instrumental in delivery of the core product range and research technologies ensuring projects are delivered on time; meet technical specification and are within the department’s budget both internally and externally to the department.

About the role

  • You’ll be responsible for Product & Category/Portfolio Project Management, and support specific categories during the early stages of the product life-cycle within the New Products & Research teams
  • You will manage the category projects utilising the appropriate systems, processes and resources to facilitate the optimal delivery of the category range. This will include identifying, managing and mitigating the projects risk and issues, and agreeing accountabilities and responsibilities with the wider project team
  • Coordinate and communicate project scope identifying dependencies and understanding the critical path to ensure timely project delivery
  • You’ll manage and utilise systems, processes and resources to facilitate the optimal delivery of projects and where appropriate develop new tools/processes
  • Coordinate and communicate project scope to ensure timely delivery
  • Identify and manage stakeholders identifying and resolving conflict, empowering and inspiring the team to ensure delivery of key business objectives
  • Manage progress, analyse, collate & report project status and data from a cost, time, spec perspective
  • Manage the Category budget and define and control project budget and cost
  • Define, track and assess the impact of change requests and understand the impact of changes from other teams
  • Create resource plans to determine demand and manage project resource allocation
  • Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement initiatives and development of PM capability within the team
  • Promote Project Management principals and best practices in all aspects of work to optimise delivery and act as mentor to other team members where appropriate
  • You’ll also have some line management responsibilities

About you

You’ll need to have:
  • A Degree qualification (engineering discipline preferable) or equivalent
  • Experience delivering projects in an engineering or early stage environment
  • Good understanding of Agile project management methodologies
  • In depth knowledge of Project Management fundamentals
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with proven ability to manage and deliver complex tasks in a fast moving and dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, influencing and relationship building skills
  • Analytical mind-set, attention to detail and ability to challenge assumptions and convention
  • Self-motivated and able to resolve conflict, inspire teams, mentor peers, and promote PM principals and best practice
  • In depth understanding and application of business processes, project governance methods and operational/development framework
  • Some experience of line management
