Quality Engineer - Advanced

The Advanced Quality Engineer will support early stage development of EC and Professional products as part of the Global Quality team


• Has developed a higher level of knowledge and skill within the Quality discipline

• Member of a team taking a hands on role to help meet or exceed the Quality requirements of our products

• Seen as a role model by others

• Should provide informal support /training to junior staff

• May formally line manage others

• Typically analyses solutions using established approaches and contributes to process improvements

• Uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external business quality issues to improve products

• Works independently, receives minimal guidance


• Create/implement great insight to produce high quality, reliable products that meet all performance and functional criteria

• Ensure the reliability of all Dyson products

• Work with RDD/Ops teams to support the development of new technology at product level

• Take a proactive approach in the generation of ideas –present ideas and concepts to senior management

• Take an active role to ensure that all quality problems are resolved thoroughly & validated through appropriate test methods

• Use established Dyson methodology, good engineering practice & discipline to deliver robust solutions in agreed timeframe

• Maintain supporting documentation to ensure accurate handovers and continuity of support

• Communicate between all relevant teams to ensure effective & timely input - these may be external as well as internal teams

• Own/contribute to team/dept level initiatives & change projects

• Challenge & develop Dyson quality practices to continuously improve reliability.

• Prepare and participate in Quality Status Reviews; present findings to senior management

• Mentor Graduates/new team members & day to day management of others if relevant


Engineering degree qualified with at least 3 years’ experience in Quality role supporting NPI/NPD projects.


• Knowledge & experience in designing manufactured products

• Knowledge & understanding of multiple tooling & manufacturing techniques

• Ability to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and coordinate the work of others.
