We are looking to develop bright, career motivated people into Verification and Test Apprentices through our 4 year Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Apprenticeship. From day one, you’ll be immersed into hands-on system build and rig fabrication, learning all the skills and knowledge to allow you to become highly skilled Verification and Test Technicians, capable of complex, precision work using a wide range of technical equipment.

You’ll work towards a nationally recognised EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering – Mechatronics Maintenance Technician. This will be delivered through a combination of work-based training and college learning. Your first 9 months will be spent at Bath College, during this period you will gain the required knowledge and experience through both classroom and workshop based development.

After this, you’ll join us here at Dyson for 4 days a week. You’ll spend your time in our Test Systems Development team with additional opportunities to work within extended teams such as Mechanical Test and Robustness. You’ll have a mentor to guide you through and provide quality training, with the remaining 1 day a week spent at Bath College to continue to learn the theory to support your activities in the workshop.

On completion, you’ll be guaranteed a job as a Verification and Test Technician within the Global Test Systems Development Team. There may also be the opportunity to progress onto higher level qualifications to complement the hands on work you will be exposed to in Dyson. We’ll cover your tuition fees and support you all the way through your learning, so all you’ll need is the ambition, determination and tenacity to excel.


As an Engineering Apprentice in Verification and Test, you’ll find yourself supporting multiple Research Design and Development (RDD) project teams with their varied requirements. We’ll expect you to get hands-on and you’ll be given responsibility to take your own initiative and contribute to the overall success of Dyson.  

  • Harness wiring, prototype wiring, panel wiring, cable assembly and soldering.

  • Electro/Mechanical assembly.

  • Assist with selection, installation, configuration, maintenance, repair and modification of test equipment components, as required.

  • Carry out rig build duties in a timely, professional manner and to the highest quality standards whilst adhering to required processes & procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, Health and Safety implementation and enforcement, risk assessment management, facility maintenance, test rig construction, test rig commissioning, PAT testing and issue reporting & resolution.

  • Execute duties which support build tasks in a timely manner and to schedule (where appropriate) to minimise unexpected down-time/delays (e.g. calibration, preparation, scheduled maintenance, equipment checks, housekeeping, material ordering).

  • Maintain team documentation to ensure accurate status reporting (e.g. COSHH, lab risk assessment, PAT test schedule, continuous improvement schedule).

  • Learn and maintain knowledge of team-specific specialisms (e.g. standards, test rig safety requirements, product development risks, mechanical/electrical/electronic equipment, and instrumentation).


We assess each application on its merits. Primarily we are looking for people who demonstrate the drive, enthusiasm, self-motivation and teamwork skills to become a Verification and Test Technician. You must be conscientious with good attention to detail and a strong draw towards practical, hands-on skills.


  • A minimum of 4 GCSEs A*-C, including English, Mathematics and Science.

  • Some previous electrical or practical hands-on experience would be beneficial

In addition to the above qualifications, you will be required to complete a comprehensive interview day at Dyson.
