Description

Over the last 4 years, we’ve established our own retail proposition, opening 71 Dyson Demo stores around the world (across 14 different markets). Our ambition is to continue to grow our own retail presence, taking the number of stores up to around 100 within the next 18 to 24 months. That’s really just the start and our plans will continue to grow and evolve in line with the plans for Dyson’s long term vision. The Store Development team is responsible for the delivery of the pipeline of Dyson Direct Stores, taking the process from site identification to handover into market and operations teams. With the increased focus on direct retail and significant growth in the number of direct stores imminent, the role of this team is changing. We are looking to manage the delivery of a regional programme of store openings, working with the local market teams and leveraging the supply chain to help retail to succeed in reaching its ambitious goals.

Accountabilities

  • Support new store development for multiple projects within the assigned region from site identification to handover of the completed store into market / operations
  • Ensure projects in the programme region meet the needs of the Dyson market through employing effective communications and stakeholder engagement plans
  • Oversee and report progress across multiple projects to achieve agreed objectives, outcomes and key performance metrics
  • Understand construction and fixture drawings and feedback into the business on areas of weakness or improvements across the design and delivery phase for projects within regional programme
  • Champion the Portfolio Management Office within the regional markets, Retail and Dyson’s supply chain in region
  • Drive commercial value and performance through applying structured contract and supplier relationship management to Dyson’s Direct Retail supply chain
  • Upskill regional suppliers to adopt Dyson culture and ways of working
  • Train and develop the market to deliver the right quality direct stores
  • Ensure the right people are doing the right things at the right time for projecs to be delivered
  • Identify trends in process, governance, cost, procurement and operating model and make recommendations to improve efficiency and / or consistency across multiple projects
  • Troubleshoot risks and issues across multiple projects and work with stakeholders to identify, understand and implement robust resolutions that work for the business
  • Manage and mitigate risk across multiple projects and report as necessary
  • Manage project reporting, challenging individual projects where there are deviations from expected outturn in respect of financials and progress

Skills

  • You will need experience of planning and rolling out retail stores
  • Demonstrable experience of managing multiple retail projects in multiple locations across a region
  • Able to take a strategic view as well as understand and translate the detail to the business
  • Strong communicator and outstanding stakeholder engagement style
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen
  • Knowledge and experience of best practice contract and supplier relationship management approaches and methodologies
  • Comfortable using an exceptions based approach
  • Natural problem solver and decision maker, using experience to identify innovative solutions
  • Can effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably; can decide and act without having the total picture; can comfortably handle risk and uncertainty
