Regional Talent Management and Development Lead - SEA

This is an exciting and unique time at Dyson.  The person in this equally unique role based in our Tech Centre in Singapore (with some international travel) will act as a strategic partner to our Engineering and Operations teams during a time of significant growth, diversification and change.

Partnering with our Research, Design and Development (RDD) teams in South East Asia (SEA), The ‘Regional Talent Management & Development Lead – RDD & Ops SEA’ will be responsible for developing the talent function within the part of the business where the Dyson magic happens! They will report to the Global Lead Talent Partner for RDD & Ops and partner with the SEA RDD & Ops leadership teams and HR Leadership teams to develop, retain, and move talent both within SEA and across Dyson globally.

They will also have a functional reporting line to the Global Head of Talent based in Malmesbury , UK and will be a part of the Global Talent team.

Based in Singapore, this person will travel across the region to build trusted working relationships with key business stakeholder, and HR teams.


People Leadership

  • Lead and inspire a small team of Talent Development professionals in Singapore and Malaysia 
  • Set annual team strategy and plan
  • Oversee day to day team activity

Leading Talent Management & Development for RDD & Ops SEA

  • Understand the business priorities and organisation capability needs; design, implement and embed a calendar of activities that will enable Dyson to manage and develop our talent
  • Develop business partner relationships with key stakeholders and managers across the functions to support on their business priorities
  • Develop strong relationships with the HR teams in each function to know the individuals and businesses well
  • Develop strong relationships with Group Talent team to understand our polices and processes, best practice, new thinking and Dyson culture; to bring to Europe as well as to share Europe with Global teams

Talent Management

  • As part of the Global talent team, fully understand the Dyson talent management philosophy & principles
  • Support the functions in embedding a strong talent management approach
  • Partner with the RDD & Operations leadership and HR teams in each function to implement an annual process for talent reviews
  • Represent RDD & Ops SEA at regular global talent discussions, ensuring flow of talent into/ out of RDD & Ops functions
  • Ensure that regular workshops and training takes place in each function; where necessary facilitate this training in partnership with the local HR team
  • Bring expertise and new thinking to our approach to managing talent
  • Ensure that in each function and RDD & Ops as whole, we have great data on our talent that we can use for business purposes, feeding this in to Group talent

Talent Development

  • Identify top talent across the region and ensure each has a development plan and feature on the Dyson talent map
  • Oversee the development of key Dyson talent cohorts within RDD & Ops – including Early careers , Pioneers etc , representing SEA needs with these programmes
  • Support functions to build strong people management capability, pulling on the global resources available

Succession Planning

  • Embed  and maintain a simple succession planning process and tool that can be implemented in each function and gives us visibility for critical role and key individuals
  • On an annual basis, work with the RDD & Ops HR teams and Reward team on the forecasting of resource needs to represent the internal flow of talent with the need to recruit new talent

Programmes & Training

  • Work with Group Talent colleagues to fully understand the suite of development and training programmes that exist across Dyson; Leading Dyson, Leading Leaders, Leading Others, Leading Self, Pioneers, Early Careers, and more.
  • Partner with Group Talent team when designing new initiatives to ensure the SEA RDD & Ops teams are represented in terms of needs, culture and language requirements
  • Champion these programmes across the region - ensuring they are well attended by RDD & Ops colleagues and that there are mechanisms to bring the learning back into work
  • Work with colleagues in SEA to embed Dyson’s performance approach – reinforcing a high performance culture
  • From time-to-time deliver training or facilitate workshops across the region including team development


  • Role model the Dyson behaviours and develop the Dyson culture
  • Ensure Dyson behaviours are embedded in all SEA RDD & Ops functions through appropriate interventions that meet cultural needs,  including an inspiring and engaging induction/ onboarding experience

Process & Systems

  • Conduct an audit of the learning and development activities in place across SEA and partner with local teams to deliver improvements
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition to ensure a seamless candidate experience through recruitment to induction and onboarding

  • Degree qualification ideally in a business, engineering or Human Resources related field
  • Expertise in talent management and development, leadership development, L&D best practice
  • Knowledge of relevant employment legislation, systems, policy and procedures
  • Coaching and facilitation at senior levels 
  • Previous experience in a regional role and in SEA markets
  • Multi-lingual (ideally) - excellent English and local language capability
  • Working in a fast-paced team environment with high volume activities and changing priorities
  • Familiar with a matrix-style management structure, with key stakeholders overseas, and a UK (or international) head-office
  • Fast-paced, growing organization with entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience in an Engineering environment preferable
