Accountabilities

We are passionate about experience and all operational activities are designed to enhance the experience of our people and our shoppers. It’s not just about hard core sales and process. It is about delivering great shopper and people experiences that are aligned to the next generation of Retail. As such, our plan is to evolve to a model where 80% of sales are through channels where we can control the experience of the shopper.

This role will be based in Stockholm as part of the Nordic Team, working for Head of Direct Sales and will be accountable for the performance of our Dyson Direct stores and stores that we operate via Concession model. Our Store Managers and Direct Retail Team Leaders report directly in to this role, with indirect responsibility for the store teams. Today we have our own store at the Mall of Scandinavia in Stockholm and Concession shops at NK in Stockholm, Magasin Du Nord in Copenhagen along with a shop in shop in at Stockmann, Helsinki. Our plan is to expand this footprint during the coming year.

The Retail Operations Manager will work cross functionally, continuously gathering feedback and data to support long term process and performance improvements. The role require the individual to work close with Marketing, Supply Chain, Commercial Category Managers, IT, Retail Execution teams, Finance based locally in Stockholm and various stakeholders in the Group functions based in the UK. The role will rely on the ability to develop outstanding relationships with others, act as a business partner for the major stakeholders and ensure that Dyson retail and events always delivers an exceptional brand experience.

This role is far reaching and will rely on being familiar with the bigger picture and market strategy, while diving into operational detail to deliver. The main objective of the role is to set the operational standards for stores and manage all physical retail platforms and programs, including communication direct to stores.

Optimise Current Operations:

·         Sales Performance

o    Drive and measure daily sales per store in line with plans

o    Work with the Direct Business Analyst to identify drivers of performance and share learnings with all stores

o    Own and deliver store specific marketing plans to support store performance

·         Leadership

o    Ensure clear succession plan for Store Managers / Team Leads in order to facilitate the expansion of our retail estate and backfill key roles quickly  

o    Ensure all staff have a personal development plan

o    Work with Regional Sales Managers & Store Managers such that our staff can experience both a Dyson owned retail environment and Dyson controlled environments within our key retail partners

o    Accountable for recruitment, on-boarding and training for store staff processes

·         Operational Efficiency

o    Ensure the store team have the tools to do their job, including but not limited to supply chain, logistics, store maintenance, retail marketing and HR

o    Optimise staff utilisation and scheduling in line with footfall and sales

o    Own the communication between head office functions and the store to ensure they get the right information at the right time and protect business continuity

o    Liaise with head office functions at both local and global level to coordinate on-site activities including services, deliveries, events etc.

o    Ensuring a consistent and inspirational shopper and staff experience across the Dyson direct retail estate

o    Implement review and governance processes to ensure we are legally compliant and trading to Global Retail Operations best practice

Developing our Future Operations:

·         Support the Head of Direct Sales to develop strategies for the future expansion & development of the Dyson retail estate

·         Project lead new store openings

·         Resourcing of new stores and associated recruitment

·         Take learnings from current operations and work with the Group Retail function to develop and even better shopper / staff experience

·         Input to monthly forecasting and annual budget process

Fixture & Store Updates:

·         Briefing and work with the Retail Execution team to coordinate the update of our existing estate

o    ahead of the introduction of new products

o    in the case of any updates to our retail fixtures

Skills

Experience:

We are looking for a top talent that is passionate about Retail, developing people and driving sales. We anticipate that the successful candidate has 5+ years of experience Retail Store Management plus some experience of having had responsibility for multiple stores. Previous experience with premium brands, and in creating an experiential shopping environment will be highly merited as will experience in working in a rapidly growing organisation. We are looking for a leader. We need someone that is a people person as building relationships with store staff and a strong network with Group Retail colleagues will be a critical success factor. We also envisage a colleague that is analytical and takes decisions based upon data and facts as much as on gut feel.
