NB: This is not a graduate level position.


  • Design and implement novel and robust solutions for orchestrating multi-modal interactions with robotic agents, with a strong focus on using natural language.
  • Design, prototype and implement manageable/maintainable/scalable software in C++/Python/Rust.
  • Developing prototype systems implemented on real-world robots in order explore and demonstrate the features and limitations of the current state-of-the-art in robotics and speech technology. This is an applied research role.
  • Help with broader integration efforts in developing our robotic prototypes and systems.


  • Demonstrable experience with offline and/or cloud based commercial speech technologies.
  • MSc or PhD (or equivalent industrial research experience) applied to practical, real-world multi-modal robotic or computer agents that engage in natural language interactions.
  • Familiarity with state-of-the-art natural language technologies including Speech Recognition, Natural Language Understanding/Intent Recognition, Dialogue Management and Natural Language Generation.
  • Ability to architect and write software to run on distributed systems with limited computational resources.
  • Developing software in a Linux environment (e.g. Ubuntu 18.04, or a variant thereof).
  • Knowledge of and experience in techniques for orchestrating intelligent agent behaviours/interactions (e.g. Behaviour Trees, Finite State Machines, Petri-Nets).


  • Track record of applying speech technology to real/existing products.
  • Experience with robot middleware frameworks such as ROS, YARP, NaoQi.
  • Experience with coding development practices such as automated testing, continuous integration/deployment and code reviewing is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge in broader areas related to robotics such as Computer Vision, Machine Learning and Hardware Control is also highly attractive.
