Senior Employment Counsel - Southern Europe

In the role of Employment Counsel – Southern Europe (SEU) you will be reporting to the Senior Employment Counsel - EMEA and supporting on French, Italian, Spanish and Belgian employment issues across the business, helping to navigate complex issues with an output and delivery focus.


We are looking for you to..:
  • Build strong relationships with Dyson’s SEU and UK based HR and business client groups 
  • Draft and negotiating contracts and termination arrangements for senior employees, consultants, agencies and other employment service providers in SEU
  • Provide input and guidance to HR on (and, where necessary due to complexity or risk profile,  managing and supervising HR handling of) individual employee relations issues in SEU such as disciplinaries, grievances, poor performance processes and sickness and employee absence matters 
  • Support the Senior Employment Counsel – EMEA and/ or Director of Global Employment Law and Employee Relations in the management of larger scale collective employee issues in SEU such as redundancies, restructures and changes to terms and conditions
  • Support the effective management of SEU employment litigation and contentious matters 
  • Provide corporate support in relation to restructuring/reorganisation and TUPE 
  • Provide expert advice to HR on their interactions with the Works Council in France
  • Support the Senior Employment Counsel – EMEA and/ or Director of Global Employment Law and Employee Relations and/or Global PSL in the management of larger scale cross jurisdictional projects
  • Provide identifying opportunities for growth, leveraging best practice and insight from within the legal environment
  • Provide input into risk areas and supporting the Senior Employment Counsel – EMEA and/ or Director of Global Employment Law and Employee Relations with the development of SEU risk mitigation solutions
  • Support the Global PSL with the creation and maintenance of precedent documents for the Employment Law team, such as contracts of employment, consultancy agreements, employment agency agreements, template legal pleadings and settlement agreements 
  • Support the Global PSL with the creation and maintenance of precedent documents for HR and line managers, such as disciplinary and grievance letters, redundancy and restructuring paperwork, policies and procedures, bonus wording and occupational health instructions
  • Support with the delivery of relevant training programmes for HR and line managers in SEU
  • Maintain an up to date and comprehensive knowledge of developments in your areas of law, and supporting with the dissemination of that information to peers and the business accordingly
  • Collaborate with other members of the legal team and the business to devise efficient strategies for the provision of legal services that are fit for future growth and match our blueprint for success
  • Instructing and effectively managing external counsel, where necessary
