Description

Dyson has an opportunity for a Senior Functional Safety Engineer to join the Powertrain group within in its Electric Vehicle Engineering Team based at its Hullavington HQ.

Accountabilities

• Work as part of a team developing product to ISO26262 level C and D. • Contribute to HARA and assist in developing safety goals and functional safety concept. • Assist software team in developing software safety requirements from Technical Safety Concept. • Develop software safety plan. • Contribute to DFMEA and FTA at VCU/motor controller level. • Ensuring software development processes are ISO26262 compliant. • Monitoring software development activities and ensuring process compliance by conducting internal audits. • Verifying implementation of software safety requirements. • Generation of documentation and supporting items to satisfy functional safety audit. • Work closely with hardware and software teams to both provide guidance and ensure safety goals met.

Skills

• Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent • 3 years or more experience working to ISO 26262, specifically focussed on Part 6, Product Development at the software Level. • In depth knowledge of all parts of ISO26262. • Experience with use of functional safety tools(e.g. Medini) • Understanding and experience of the process for software tool qualification. • Understanding and experience of the implications for integrating software items developed as safety elements out of context. • Practical experience of developing Technical Safety Concepts, safety plans and software safety requirements. • Industry experience of HARA,DFMEA,FTA for embedded hardware/software • Functional safety experience in EV applications is beneficial but not essential. • Experience of using formal requirement management tools such as DOORS is beneficial but not essential. • Knowledge and execution of software quality and processes such as Automotive SPICE. • A good understanding of embedded software development tools and processes.
