Senior Finance Analyst

This is a pivotal role within the Health and Beauty team. This role is responsible for bringing financial rigour to the key strategic decisions faced by the business in the development of its product portfolio. The role involves the preparation and ownership of financial business cases for Research Design and Development (RDD) projects from the beginning of the product development process to launch. The role also comprises financial and strategic business partnering of upstream NPI projects not yet at RDD resolution.


  • Ownership of all NPD/NPI business cases/financial strategy for EC/Lighting projects
  • Preparation and ownership of EC/Lighting business cases for milestones from BA/PSM to SOP 
  • Business Partner – EC Head of Commercial and Team, New Category Commercial, RDD EC leadership team, design Managers, Programme managers, Strategy, Cost
  • Bridge between Commercial Strategy team, EC Commercial and EC Finance team
  • Develop, understand and drive the business to deliver the H&B 5 year plan
  • Category strategy with Commercial/New Category Commercial and portfolio analysis & effectiveness/prioritisation
  • Capex investment decision analysis – timing, value for money and production opportunities
  • Drive commercial improvement & ways of working projects
  • Identify and implement internal reporting improvements to streamline across the business
  • Review, present and challenge Market performance – business partnering Commercial regional teams to hit yearly budget targets
  • Ensure that data capture of financial inputs from Business Units are accurate and submitted on a timely basis
  • Provide flexible ad-hoc support to the Senior Commercial Finance Manager and Group/Category FD, including direct liaison with Category and Finance Directors 
  • Partner with PC and FC Commercial Finance teams to drive process improvements
  • Promote financial understanding and education with non-finance stakeholders 


This role works with a number of different non-finance functions across the business and is highly visible. It is great opportunity to develop a thorough understanding of Dyson’s product development process and go to market strategies from both a finance and non-finance perspective.
The role holder is required to have the ability to balance big picture thinking with an eye for detail.  Being conscientious about the integrity of the data presented, whilst at the same time maintaining a pragmatic and flexible approach. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for this role, as is the confidence to challenge senior stakeholders based on financial data.

Key Competencies and qualifications
  • Fully qualified and experienced Accountant with at least 2 years PQE
  • Highly competent IT and data manipulation skills
  • Curiosity and problem solving skills, with determination and perseverance to identify opportunity for improvements and push them through
  • Ability to plan and implement strategy at a whole business and category level
  • Be able to assimilate new information quickly and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding
