Description

Europe is undergoing a transformation in its retail landscape. Fundamental to this is its Pivot to Direct and transformation of its trade structure. This role’s priority will be focusing on the direct business and serve as a key thought leader of both pillars supporting the European Executive team and Direct Steering Team with the insight and business partnering required to make this seismic shift in commercial performance. 

Accountabilities

1. Partner the European Heads of Direct and the Direct Steering Committee 
  • Build deep and comprehensive understanding of the key drivers in the European Direct business, bringing appropriate external retail measures into focus in Dyson.
  • Support continuous improvement in cost allocations and P&L channel granularity 
  • Act as a connection point across the European Direct business teams
  • Play a key role in improving our ability to forecast our Direct business across European markets
  • Develop business case analysis to support new initiatives and assess key operational projects
  • Analyse return on investment on marketing activities, helping the business understand where to invest to drive the greatest return
  • Identify improvements in the investment appraisal process and develop new ways of working where appropriate
  • Connect and draw on global and external capabilities and initiatives when appropriate.
2. Partner the European Trading and Marketing Directors with ad hoc requirements such as:
  • Support the European finance team drive improvement in how it tracks, prioritises and assesses BBI expenditure 
  • Support for commercial negotiations with retailers
  • Support ranging and pricing decisions for the European range
  • Develop business case analysis to support new initiatives and assess key operational projects
  • Identify improvements in the investment appraisal process and develop new ways of working where appropriate
  • Connect and draw on global and external capabilities and initiatives when appropriate.
3. Fulfil other duties as necessary
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and information as necessary
  • Provide cover and support within the team to maintain internal customer service levels in times of absence and workload prioritisation 
  • Identify problems and find solutions for existing processes

Skills

  • A self-starter who can work in a fast paced environment and passionately drive results
  • Commercial acumen and interest.  Willingness to enter tough negotiations.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships and influence senior stakeholders
  • Solid accounting skills, diligent and accurate
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • An aptitude to develop systems and processes which drive insight and or efficiencies
  • Ability to take an external view and bring the outside in
  • Flexible in approach with excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Ability to influence and motivate others
