Description

The role is responsible for managing manufacturing engineering support across different Dyson products. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and work closely with the manufacturing engineering team to develop and improve equipment, processes, and testing.

  • At least Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Communications, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or relevant working experience

  • Manage manufacturing engineering support across different Dyson products.

  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience

     


    Accountabilities:- responsibilities/tasks


      • NPI / Project Management

        • Ensure that our products are well understood, and processes are robustly designed for mass manufacturing.

        • New Technology readiness and process integration / ramp up of future products and product / technology transfer to the CM

        • Define equipment specification and work with equipment maker to develop and install equipment

        • Responsible for process integration and support of product/technology transfers

        • Drive integration and ramp-up of new technologies into production

        • Perform optimization and adaptation of process modules to optimize yield, cost and quality

        • Analyze technical problems and find solutions                               

        • Monitor equipment fabrication progress and ensure equipment are ready on time

        • To work with  UK ME, RDD to define project flow for new product

        • To conduct MTM analysis on new product to determine assembly time and cost

        • To develop new or revise current test methods to improve test effectiveness, efficiency and cycle times

        • To be actively involved in early product design development stage and produce a robust and efficient test package (timeplan, method, tester and facility).

        • To define tester specification and work with electronic/electrical design engineer to qualify tester

           

      • Sustaining:

        • Support Contract Manufacturing Operations through new line set-up, process and equipment effectiveness improvements and manufacturing engineering activities

        • Support ongoing production needs with process and PE development

        • Support of production in case of line deviation

        • Perform optimization and adaptation of process modules to optimize yield, cost and quality


       


      • Leadership:

        • Drive development of CM Manufacturing Engineering team to support production needs, process improvements and new process / production line set-ups

           

           




           


          Skills


            • At least a Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical or equivalent work experience
            • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing Engineering support experience related to electro-mechanical products with primary roles in assembly line equipment set-up, installation and buy-off
            • Demonstrate Project Management Skills. PMP certification a plus
            • Demonstrate a good understanding of the fundamentals of equipment, process and test Engineering.
            • In depth Process and Manufacturing Engineering knowledge: DFx / DFM tools, PFMEA and Control Plan development, MSA, MTM1/2, Lean Six-sigma
            • Demonstrate a thorough approach to reasoning and problem solving
            • Demonstrate ability to work proactively, to identify issues and propose better solutions.
            • Proficiency in Minitab, 3D CAD, Team Center, Labview is an advantage.
            • Ability to plan ahead, prioritise tasks and coordinate with the work of others.
            • Good at communicating at all levels.
            • A well rounded mix of experimental, theoretical and design skills.
            • Fluent in spoken and written English.
            • Program management capability in a fast pace and ever changing environment
            • Mechanical background with at least 5 years of working experience in automated production
            •  is a plus
            • Ability to travel
