Description

We are looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to work within RDD to support Technology delivery from concept through to Start of Production.  The role is to define and develop assembly processes, create a manufacturing vision and deliver world class automated production lines into Dyson facilities worldwide.


Accountabilities


  • Definition and optimisation of manufacturing processes.

  • Leading “Design for Manufacture” and PFMEA activity.

  • Author of Technical Specifications for automated equipment.

  • Working with suppliers to develop and refine proposals for automated equipment.

  • Assessment of alternative proposals and building a business case to drive internal approval processes.

  • Monitoring supplier progress to deliver on-time solutions and maintenance of dashboards to inform the wider business.

  • Lead design reviews to maintain the core vision and world class ethos.

  • Lead teams of engineers to validate equipment for production readiness at suppliers’ sites and Dyson manufacturing facilities.

  • Identification of new manufacturing techniques, opportunities and assessment of suitability for use.

  • Identification and qualification of new suppliers.



Skills


  • Degree in an engineering discipline.

  • Sound knowledge of engineering drawings and tolerance stacks.

  • Experience leading capital equipment projects, responsible for delivery on time and to budget.

  • Experience of defining tooling concepts for bespoke capital equipment.

  • Sound theoretical knowledge with experience of problem solving and root cause analysis.

  • Able to demonstrate “Design for Manufacture” experience.

  • Lean Six Sigma trained, proficient in data acquisition and analysis.

  • Demonstrable knowledge of Automated Equipment Safety Systems.

  • A self-starter able to lead teams and mentor engineers.

  • Experience of working with multi-site teams.

  • Able to build and maintain relationships with worldwide suppliers.

  • An understanding of electro-mechanical assembly and test methods.
