Senior Negotiation Excellence Manager

As Senior Negotiation Excellence Manager you are part of our Global Procurement team and it will be your responsibility to support our Global Commodity Managers (GCMs) in their negotiation efforts. Your expertise in advanced negotiation techniques and applied game theory is critical to achieving our total cost objectives.

In this role you will be working with the GCMs to screen for negotiation situations that require your expertise. Such negotiations may take place during the initial supplier selection process or as part of the GCMs’ annual negotiations. You will manage each negotiation as a project that consists of clearly defined analysis- and execution phases. You apply your knowledge in bargaining-, auction- and game theory to create an optimized bespoke negotiation approach for each project. Your focus will be on high value tenders and competitive negotiations but you also support multi-million dollar bilateral negotiations with your expertise. You will visit the involved suppliers to better understand their manufacturing processes and cost drivers and may also develop negotiable cost models where applicable. Every negotiation requires cross-functional collaboration and communication. You lead the negotiation team through this process and ensure an aligned approach towards achieving a common goal.


  • Manage game theory based negotiation projects
  • Facilitate discussions with internal stakeholders to create supplier total cost comparisons as part of game theory based negotiations
  • Provide functional leadership to other staff working in the field of negotiation excellence
  • Obtain stakeholder commitment to proceed with proposed negotiation strategies
  • Conduct game theory based supplier negotiations
  • Track and report the results of supported negotiations
  • Prepare negotiation trainings
  • Organize and facilitate negotiation trainings for procurement staff
  • Coach procurement staff in high stakes bilateral supplier negotiations
  • Conduct research on state-of-the art negotiation strategies
  • Coordinate supplier development activities
  • Define and support negotiation strategies based on supplier development efforts
  • Coordinate, advise on and facilitate the creation of negotiable cost models


Key Skills / Experience

  • Master in economics or mathematics
  • 10 years of experience in similar functions
  • Experience/knowledge in applied game theory
  • Strong analytical skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint

  • Experience in leading cross functional teams

  • Strong presentation and communication skills

  • Natural ability to communicate with senior management

  • Able to work independently


  • Experience in commodity management
  • CIPS (or equivalent qualification)

  • Experience in lean manufacturing
