About the role
Technical Program Management (TPM) Team is responsible for complete end to end delivery for a NPI project.
The TPM Project Manager would be assigned a NPI project in a specific category.
The TPM PM would assess the complexity of the NPI and work with the major Engineering Function to allocate resources for it.
The TPM PM would setup key engineering checkpoints to assess progress and also to act as an approval checkpoints for Senior Management.
This is in addition to the weekly review the PM would have with his team on the project.
The TPM would manage the CAPEX of the project to ensure spending is within limits and raise additional funds when needed.
Coordination and cross collaborations with various engineering functions are critical and the TPM PM would need to facilitate it. Making hard call as and when needed.
The TPM PM would also be responsible to ensure that each checkpoint of the various functions are mapped out and met. Example 1st draft PFMEA and DFX for Manufacturing is conducted and signed off.
The TPM PM would be the owner of the plan to deliver the necessary processes / equipment for the NPI.
Ability to work in a fast pace ever changing environment to deliver optimal solutions at prescribed time frame.
Work closely with Operation Team to install capacities at the right time frame.
Team player that has no lines drawn and willingness to go above and beyond your scope of work.
Manage an NPI project from its Initialisation to Installation to 3 months into mass production.
Responsible for the various aspect of an NPI project.
Overall project plan
Review NPI complexity and define a resource plan to support it, get a buyoff from the various Engineering functions and work with them to staff up.
Setup various checkpoints and get canvass stake holders buy in.
Drive the various engineering functions to setup their deliverables with clear checkpoints; this would also include to certain degree inputs from design.
Ensure that each functions build in the right protocol into their plan. Example IQ/OQ/PQ or DFM and Mold flow analysis.
Review and get alignment with Program Management and Operations Management on the project deliverables.
Conduct periodic review on the NPI with the TPM Manager and in turn provide a project summary to senior management.
Establish a working rapport with teams outside the Engineering Team that is essential to an NPI. Namely the RDD and Operations functions.
Create a tracker for the project in the category; tracking Project Health, Timeline adherence, Capital spend, and projected risks.
Create a positive and collaborative environment with the cross functional team.
Be a critical member of the team providing inputs from Manufacturing / Operations standpoint.
Be a point of escalation and challenges resolution as and when needed.
Key Skills / Experience
- At least possess Bachelor's Degree in Electronics, Electrical, Communications, Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering.
- Must have strong willingness to learn new things and challenge the existing production test/assembly method.
- Shown to have a good “Engineering Sense” that could be applied in areas outside core expertise.
- Has directly or indirectly manage a team of at least 5 people.
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
- At least 8 years of relevant experience in a NPI environment.
Experience in a regulated environment following or setting protocols like IQ/OQ/PQ.
Has operated in an outsourced environment; understanding the challenges and pit falls.
Having a PMP certification is a bonus
- Able to travel internationally either to UK for product development or to South East Asia for engagement with the wider TPM Team.
- Spend a significant amount of time (50% to 70%) traveling within China to suppliers to closely manage the projects.
Home based office with minimum time at Dyson office in Guangzhou.
