Technical Training Lead

Based in the Dyson Research Design & Development (RDD) department, the main responsibilities for this role will be to work as part of the Technical Training Team in ensuring smooth and effective functioning of training events while also spending some of your time working with Departmental SME’s to drive continual improvement of RDD processes. You will manage, design, develop, deliver the training and continual assessment of technical training to RDD and Operations staff. 


• Organise, deliver and complete Induction training when required

• Lead in the creation, analysis and subsequent training based on feedback from Heads of Department

• Work with stakeholder groups within RDD to gather requirements for the creation of new training where required

• Able to work independently to design and develop training programs based on RDD training needs analysis and business needs

• Work as part of a global team to ensure global consistency in process and training content to ensure global consistency in working practices within RDD

• Key player in fulfilling Technical training strategy based on RDD training needs analysis

• Liaise with other departments to ensure technical training is aligned with the business

• Mentors internal Subject Matter Experts (SME) to be able to conduct internal training

• Take a proactive approach in the design and improvement of Technical Training

• Act as subject matter expert within training and disseminating knowledge, guiding and mentor engineers in methodology, best practice and standards

• Work with SME’s and Optimisation team to challenge and develop best practice and process improvements across the wider RDD function


• Detailed knowledge of tools and techniques used throughout the Product Development process which may include some of the following: FMEA, DFA, DFM, Systems Engineering, CAE, CAD & PLM software

• Ideally, experience of working using various methods of configuration management within a design environment

• Excellent presentation/facilitation skills and the ability to communicate internationally are essential

• Good technical writing

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team, probably in a leadership role (Interpersonal skills)

• Good IT skills including MS office

• Knowledge of instructional design theory and implementation

• Extensive experience in both manufacturing and business environments, proven working relationship with internal customers and external vendors

• Demonstrable engineering or related subject experience with experience as an instructor or professional development trainer
