Description

The Commercial Team within the Dyson Electric Vehicle programme are looking for a Connected Experience UX Lead to work on connected experiences across all touch points.

This person will need good interpersonal skills, be comfortable with ambiguity and change, and always strive to push themselves and their peers to produce high quality output. They need to put the user at the heart of all decisions and be an advocate for this.

We are looking for someone curious, positive and excited by what can be achieved.

Accountabilities

  • User research: Carry out human observations, formative and summative user research. This includes writing recruitment briefs, discussion guides and facilitation. It also includes working with external partners to help co-ordinate international research.

  • Create prototypes: Use a range of prototyping tools to help answer design questions, challenge assumptions, communicate to stakeholders and developers.

  • User flows and wireframes: Document logic flows and interactions for development. While we want to keep documentation light, we need someone that can think through different scenarios, error cases and edge cases to ensure that we create a robust solution.

  • Work closely with the Connected Experience Director: You’ll be supported and directed by the Connected Experience Director, but we also want someone who will be proactive, ask questions and challenge assumptions.

  • Work closely with UI designers: You will partner with UI designers and work together to create prototypes and the deliverables that the development team need.

  • Work with other teams and stakeholders: Communicate and run workshops with other teams to ensure that our solutions are feasible and we present a consistent experience to the end user.

Skills

  • Experience in digital and human centred design either as a UX designer or Product Designer.

  • The ability to design the User Experience at macro-level – exploring interactions over long periods of time, across touch points – as well as the micro-level looking at detailed interactions, transitions.

  • You are likely to have in-house or start-up experience where you worked within a cross-functional Agile team focused on delivery. However, we will also consider those with Consultancy experience who have helped clients deliver successful outcomes.

  • Likely to have experience designing apps on iOS and Android.

  • Experience in IoT based projects would be beneficial.

  • Experience using a variety of prototyping and animation tools. An understanding of Javascript and the ability to create code-based prototypes using tools like Framer will be looked upon favourably.

  • A strong eye with good visual presentation skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical peers.

  • Ability to be proactive and self-directed.

  • Open to new ways of working and UX approaches.
