Assistant Accountant - Weybourne

Weybourne Group is the holding company for the Dyson technology company, Dyson Farming, and other diverse business interests. Outside the operating businesses, Weybourne manages an investment portfolio and provides financial and other professional support to the Dyson Family, their estates, and personal business interests. The group covers a wide range of sectors including farming, financial and commercial property investments and residential property. We currently have a team of around 75 employees whose roles cover accountancy, financial control, tax and treasury, commercial property and financial investment management, security, audit, IT and HR based in both the UK and Singapore (where the Group Head Office is located).

The Finance Department are currently looking for an Assistant Accountant to support the Family’s private businesses, charities, and personal finance.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coding, preparing and posting the family’s bank transactions.

  • Preparing and maintaining robust cash flow forecasts, both personal and business.

  • Preparing and posting monthly accounting entries, including prepayments & accruals.

  • Ensuring the integrity of the financial numbers including preparing balance sheet reconciliations and other month end schedules.

  • Preparing accounts analysis and prepare VAT returns for the tax team to review.

  • Preparing management accounts and monthly reports in accordance with agreed policies and procedures including commentary and analysis for certain smaller entities.

  • Preparing the statutory financial statements for business entities and trusts.

  • Support the preparation of budget information as required.

  • Support the Family Finance Manager with other ad hoc tasks as required.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships across the company and other family office entities.

  • Commitment to developing yourself within your role; undergoing training where necessary.

  • Proactively promoting and maintaining high standards of work – taking initiative to resolve and/or draw attention to areas that don’t meet required standards or any issues that arise.

  • Conducting yourself in line with the Weybourne Values.

  • Any other ad hoc duties.

Person specification / Core Competencies:

  • AAT qualified.

  • Previous experience in a role as an assistant accountant, or similar position (involving most of the key tasks listed above).

  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills.

  • Commitment to meeting demanding reporting deadlines.

  • Computer literate, with excellent skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting systems.

  • Confident communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals from a range of backgrounds.

  • Willing and able to take responsibility and ownership for tasks.

  • Ability to work autonomously when required, whilst still possessing strong teamwork skills.

  • Strong sense of discretion, appreciating the confidentiality of the work.

  • Keen to suggest improvements to current ways of working.

  • Open and flexible to the changing demands of the organisation.

  • Proactive and flexible approach to work.
