The Assistant Chef Manager, supports the Chef Manager with the day to day operations and smooth running of a designated cafe, ensuring the quality and customer service standards are delivered. The Assistant Chef Manager is also responsible for the people management of some of the chefs and Kitchen Porters. 



  • Support the Chef Manager in the delivery of the smooth day to day running of the cafe, coaching and training the chefs and Kitchen Porters where required 

  • Working closely with the Chef Manager to deliver all food requirements  

  • Acting up to cover periods of absence for the Chef Manager ie. annual leave and sickness 

  • Support the Chef Manager in embedding improvements and changes as instructed by Head Chef 

  • Support the Chef Manager in making improvements to food quality, food standards, processes and ensure consistency. 

  • Carry out recruitment with the Chef manager for direct reports ensuring onboarding plans are in place for your team 

  • Ensure all mandatory and on the job training takes place for your team 

  • Support the Chef manager in delivering food catering for Dyson events when required such events as board meetings, products launches etc 

  • Ensure communications are cascaded to your team and run daily huddles in the absence of the Chef Manager 

  • Attend Chef Manager meetings bringing ideas and suggestions for consideration 

  • Lead your team ensuring pro-active management of performance in line with our High-Performance Culture, management of holidays and planning of duties 

  • Work with the Catering Administrator to oversee ordering and controlling of food stock in the Chef Managers absence 

  • Ensure compliance of H & S, COSHH and Food Hygiene standards within the cafe 


  • Creative individual with a passion for good customer service and high quality fresh foods 

  • An experience leader who understands the logistic and operations of running a in house catering offering 

  • Experience of leading a small team 

  • Must thrive working in a fast-paced environment  

  • Strong communicator  

  • NVQ Level 2&3 or equivalent in a relevant area 

  • Contract Catering experience is desirable
