Associate Editorial Communications Manager

About the role:-

We are looking for an ambitious journalist or writer to join Dyson’s in-house editorial team. This person will help us craft Dyson stories and tell them in the most compelling way all around the world. The successful candidate will work alongside our Group Communications team in London, with regular travel to Dyson’s Malmesbury campus. They will assist with the writing and production of news stories, features and campaigns, big and small, to help advance the Dyson story and reputation.

Having an outstanding understanding of the media and an innate ability to tell inspiring stories is taken as a given. They will be results focused, and have an eye for the technical details as well as having exceptional writing skills 



  • Work with the Senior Editorial Communications Manager to develop and execute a year-long editorial strategy by helping to surface interesting stories that support communications campaigns and Dyson’s wider growth ambitions.
  • Work with the wider Newsroom team to deliver the best content across all owned platforms and amplify it accordingly.    
  • Manage the editorial process for individual stories from start to finish, identifying, creating and publishing the best editorial that appeals to all audiences – from the media to consumers and Dyson people.   
  • Develop and manage relationships with teams across Dyson, from engineers to creative and communications teams.  
  • Maintain a deep understanding of good storytelling, how it relates to Dyson and how it can be used to bring all that we do to life. 
  • Apply SEO best practices to all works, ensuring stories and pages are discoverable and engaging.
  • Assist the creation of SEO content to help drive traffic to the Dyson website. 
  • Monitor and track the performance of articles to learn what content works well and use that insight to inform future editorial plans. 
  • Support the creation and delivery of engaging images, videos and asserts to illustrate and engage audiences in our stories. 
  • Support the day-to-day running and maintaining of the CMS.  


What experience do you need?

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in writing and publishing articles for a regular online or print outlet, with a keen interest in technology, design and engineering. They will have relevant experience as a journalist or writer, working on stories and articles from start to finish.

They will be creative, have impeccable verbal and written communications skills with experience of working in a fast-paced publication or similar. 


We will be looking for examples of a candidate’s writing skills and ability, alongside examples of proactively building relationships with other individuals or teams.  

In addition they will likely have: 

• A Bachelor’s degree.

• Perfect English and a range other language skills.

• Demonstrable ability to engage across borders, building lasting relationships.

• Ability to effect change - at both a people and process level.

• Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage people up, down, and across the organisation. 

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.  

This will seem like an impossibly long list but to do all of the above successfully in Dyson, people invariably have the majority of the following personal traits:

• Excellent storytelling ability, good instinct, brilliant interpersonal skills and robust commercial understanding.

• Unafraid to challenge, be challenged, and ask/answer difficult questions.

• An ability to influence at the highest levels through clear, informed and logical argument and discussion, tempered by a sense of humour.

• The utmost discretion: tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential issues and situations.

• Cultural awareness and experience of the nuances of working in a European context.

• Fastidious in organisation and an eye for the detail.
