Associate Principal Data Analyst – Global Quality & Sustainability
UK/Malmesbury (office based)
We are currently seeking an Associate Principal Data Analyst to join the Business Intelligence (BI) team in our Global Quality & Sustainability team - itself a part of Dyson’s world-leading RDD function. The BI team are responsible for assessing the success of Dyson’s products in market and identifying the drivers of reliability and satisfaction in our technologies. Using data from a wide range of sources and business domains, we unlock valuable insights that can be fed back into the business to ensure that we continue to delight Dyson owners with innovative and ground-breaking technology.
We are looking for an authentic, energetic and pioneering individual who can think differently about business problems, distill complex business requirements into meaningful action and tangible outputs. The individual will be a senior member of the team and will interface with people of all levels across the Dyson organisation, interpreting their questions and requirements and creating data sets that can be used in reports that enlighten and inspire.
Whether it’s understanding what our customers like or dislike most about our machines, identifying emerging field issues, or evaluating the impact Dyson and its products has on the environment, we pride ourselves on our ability to use data to tell stories. We’re seeking an experienced data professional who can help us unlock the full potential of our data sources that will lead us to identifying new opportunities to monitor and improve on all aspects of product quality.
About the role
The Associate Principal Data Analyst is a technical problem solver, they must be willing to solve the problem by any means available. Creative thinking & persistence is a prerequisite in determining robust solutions that allow the cleansing of “dirty” data across multiple data domains, this could include data mining, wrangling, and statistical work to unlock useful insight. They will become the Business Intelligence point of contact for our global Quality teams capturing and interpreting requirements that may include: adjusting our own internal data processes to account for differences in the way local markets interact with CRM systems and creating data sets to support quality investigations.
The role requires a candidate with excellent communication skills, sound business acumen and strong technical data skills in order to:
Capture clear requirements direct from business stakeholders around the world
Develop great relationships across the business by understanding their needs and their processes
Manipulate and transform relevant data sources into robust datasets for effective analysis
Maintain data health by identifying gaps/opportunities to further cleanse and improve the data quality
Excellent SQL for both data manipulation and querying is a ‘must have’
GCP, dbt, GIT, AWS and Jira experience is preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, happy working at all levels of the organisation, and across different geographies
Experience working with large-scale data warehouses (ideally cloud-based)
Ability to manage multiple projects at any one time, and deliver results to deadlines
Experience with Data Visualization software such as Tableau, Looker, Qlik or Power BI (not essential)
Passionate about using data to tell stories and inspire others
Experience from a wide variety of industries and/or business domains is desirable.
Confident in turning business requirements into technical data specifications (and vice versa)
Doesn’t give up easily and sees tasks through to completion

Pragmatic; Good instincts to weigh up effort, versus reward/added value, balance priorities
A keen eye for detail and willingness to look for marginal gains
