Being a pivotal role in the concept to production of a Dyson Designed Cell puts the Development team at the heart of this exciting journey. The Team will translate early concept directions into fully developed, optimised & validated solutions to make at high volume for the next generation of Dyson products.

About the role

As Dyson moves further into the digital age, we will develop strategies and methods for applying the Digital Twin in the development of novel Cell technology that will drive enhanced performance, safety and sustainability in our products.

As a Digital Twin Architecture Engineer at Dyson’s energy storage development team, you will play a vital role in advancing the next-generation innovation through digital transformation to create products, processes and systems from design and development through the end of the product life cycle for the future.

A successful candidate will leverage engineering toolbox along with product structure(s) and integrate these with the necessary digital elements to deliver the required solutions more economically, environmentally and socially sustainable. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and have the opportunity to create virtual models at various stages of development to test in world-class and state-of-the-art manufacturing environments.

  • Design and develop Digital Twin architecture(s) to create digital representations of connected environments from products to machines to processes

  • Use digital twin to integrate simulation and testing solutions to accelerate improved product design while simultaneously optimise performance of product, process and operations

  • Build digital thread(s) by using data and connectivity networks for real-time analytics, 3D visualisation throughout the product’s lifecycle

  • Draw insights from real time usage and performance data for predictive modelling and monitoring of cost, quality, operational and sustainability outcomes

  • Manage complexities and linkage within systems-of-systems

  • Support cross-functional teams in the application of the digital twin

  • Exhibit clear presentation of technical information and supporting documentation to ensure accurate hand over to cross functional teams

  • Excellent relationship building skills with the ability to build a network of connections with internal departments, external regulators and industry bodies

  • Ability to work sensitively, discretely, and effectively across Dyson

About you

  • Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related fields

  • Strong background and relevant research/working experience in digital tools such as digital twin, cyber-physical systems, automation, machine learning will be preferred

  • Good knowledge in programming languages (e.g. Matlab, C#/C++, Java, Python, Scala, SQL, etc.)

  • Familiar with modelling & simulation, optimisation, and visualisation tools

  • Familiar with the concepts of product lifecycle management (PLM)

  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently

  • A good team player, highly motivated with can-do attitude

  • Must demonstrate a passion for working for Dyson


  • Strong technical knowledge on statistics, artificial intelligence, Big Data analytics

  • Knowledge in secure IT systems

  • Previous experience in delivering digitalisation/automation projects with exposure in a manufacturing environment

  • Hands-on process modelling experience
