The PD Architecture team sit within the Dyson Delivery and Integration Office (DD&IO) and work with representatives from global teams across the company to relentlessly improve everything we do in line with the business vision

About the role

Reporting into Head of Virtual Tools, Methods and Processes this role will unify the strategy and energise the implementation plan across RDD, Quality & Operations, the DDIO and IT by aligning the delivery roadmaps for Virtual Series to Dyson

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Provide thought leadership and be responsible for implementing a series of large transformational and/or continuous improvement activities.  Captured in a road map that is backed up with a multi-year plan, in turn underpinned by a series of fully resourced and prioritised projects.  
  • Capture the vision for Virtual Series across all invested stakeholders and ensure compatibility of application throughout the product lifecycle.
  • To strengthen and leverage our strategic partnerships for the benefit of the business and push for the Dyson implementation of their toolset to be the best in the world.
  • Execute and project manage the road map that turbocharges the Virtual Series initiative and embeds it business as usual in how we develop products.
  • This position will serve to transform and embed best practices of Computer Aided Engineering and change management within a product development environment e.g. Product Lifecyle Management (PLM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and/or Finite Element Analysis (FEA) along with their respective functional work-flows.
  • Form an effective partnership with the digital teams (IT) to ensure the infrastructure, connection to the vendors and access to the relevant application’s development community.
  • Lead a community of practise that feed the road map and drive the embedding of improvements into PD activities and drive awareness to the wider community

About you

  • You will be recognised as a key contributor in your field with high level knowledge and an understanding of product development best practice across other disciplines.

  • Experience in both the MathWorks and ANSYS suite of virtual products

  • Expertise in advanced engineering tools and techniques (related to efficiency, speed, quality of engineering)

  • Technical, personal and leadership credibility to work effectively with cross functional RDD teams, other business functions and business leaders. Comfortable working autonomously to resolve complex challenges where no precedent exists.

  • You will be curious and have a mind-set of wrong thinking.  You will naturally spot connections, see opportunities when others don’t and be comfortable in a ‘challenge culture’  

  • You will have strong long-term thinking skills with examples, understand how to make good decisions and spot opportunities

  • An appreciation of the impact of change and what is required to deliver it

  • Ability to communicate complex ideas simply and possess an Inherent desire to drive improvement through new ways of working.

  • Experience in Product Lifecyle Management tools, ideally Teamcenter

  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and that you have a pragmatic approach to capability development that focus business cases on outcomes and benefit realisation.

  • Project and Programme Management Skills, including business case management, consultant selection and management experience.
