Associate Principal Engineer

The main function of Principal Team is to take on highly technical challenging issues- risks management, to lead for robust-innovative engineering solutions and promote technical skillset development.

About the role

The role would sit within Principal Team which one of the teams under Technology Development Floorcare department.

Role objectives:

  • To lead, coach engineers and solve complex engineering problems

  • To explore opportunities around new technology and robust mitigation factors in engineering risks management

  • To promote the technical skillset growth to improve overall team operational effectiveness and cross teams collaboration.

Primary role duties:

  • To lead high risk issues that cut across projects, offering advice on analysis and robust solution implementation such that closed loop learning for bettering future design and technology.

  • To lead the identification of technical challenges and suggest improvement or methodology from the aspect of robustness, performance and its reliability.

  • To ensure complex mathematic, hand calculation, analytical, experimental and modelling approach are simplified as toolkits that could quickening the technology adaptation and its robustness.

  • To be mentor or consultant for Engineers in terms such that best practice and optimize engineering control being effectively updated into drawing and qualitative control in production.

Secondary/additional role duties:

  • To support any initiatives technical skillset development via coaching or support creation of platform for professional development framework with internal team members, to ensure the team to be better equipped to solve engineering problems.

  • To support any needed development for physical verification and validation platform to build up the robustness of Virtual Engineering and democratize the access to simulation data analysis and quantitative-qualitative visual comparison.

  • To be the advocate for new technology exploration and innovation to improve product features and new technological advancement.

About you

Previous work experience & technical qualification/exposure:

  • Degree/Master/PhD in Aerospace Engineering, Data Analytic, Mechanical Engineering in Analysis and Development

  • A Senior Engineer or Associate Principal Engineer, with more than 5 years of working experiences related to fluid dynamics/motor R&D/particles dynamics along with analysis, data integration in product development

  • Proven to have the tech. leadership potential and expandable skills in the last tech. role.

  • Proven to have good learning capability and sound understanding of emerging new engineering development around the interaction between fluid, thermal, mechanics and material science

  • Proven record on the ability to lead multiple development projects based on strong sense of priority and engineering system thinking.

  • Proven record on the ability to lead and mentor Engineer and extend technical influence for right engineering decision

  • Proven record on the ability to perform good planning around unmature technology background and execution under highly demanding setting.

  • Demonstrated to have reasonable sound insight of ANSYS-CFD, DEM, computing-modelling platform i.e. python and Matlab- Simscape.

  • Proven to have the ability to learn and expand into the area of coding and create coded platform e.g. in Python to solve engineering issues- improve the efficiency of team

  • Be a hands-on and capable of developing tailored-made-solutions according to requirements.

  • Demonstrated the good proficiency in English, effective communication and technical presentation skills.

  • Being a self-starter in exploring new platform and software to improve effectiveness of deliveries.

  • Have the right attitude in term of hands on for the preparation of prototype and sensors integration for advancing test setup.

  • Have great passion in engineering work particularly to prove ideas via hypothesis, analysis for engineering solution and evaluate the outcome of engineering efforts.

  • Humble and have right attitude in research-development driven project and tooling design works in the past.

  • Being eager to learn and embrace Kaizen concept in self-development
