About us
Dyson is developing new research capabilities in personal care categories at their Singapore technical facility. We intend to develop and translate new opportunities in bioimaging, biomaterials, clinical microbiology, active ingredient chemistry, delivery methods, assay and model development into new and exciting consumer products. The Associate Principal Scientist will act as Dyson’s technical specialist and subject matter expert in our research programs and be a key driver in the execution of the projects commissioned. This is a new role and team in Singapore and as such the incumbent will share responsibility to direct and drive the team scientifically, as well as build capability within Dyson facilities. There will be strong link with NPI and NPD partners in order to embed and translate developments throughout the organisation.
About the role
Delivery of materials characterisation projects in the area of personal care science
Input to the lab committee and work planning as an independent project leader
Technical leadership as subject matter expert delivering guidance of cross functional team to pursue the research projects defined
Development of capability at the technical centre, defining and executing experimental methods, and accountability for experimental results and interpretations
Translation of program outputs into Dyson new product concepts
Communication and ownership of program outputs to Team and leadership including high level stakeholder reviews
Represent Dyson as Subject matter expert internally and externally as required to develop and maintain technical network
About you
Degree level qualifications in materials science, biomaterials, biomedical engineering, chemistry, microbiology or related science areas
Significant experience in chemical & physical characterisation of microbial biofilms
Significant experience of chemical and materials analytical methods, in vitro model development and characterisation, and their integration into experimental assays
Experience in tribology, rheology, confocal microscopy & atomic force microscopy would be advantageous
Experience of validation testing of assays against real life applications
Familiarity with consumer or industrial product development would be an advantage
Experience with collaborative translational research programs including working with advisory boards, industry or academic partners
Technical leadership as subject matter expert in relevant fields including building partnerships and relationships cross functionally
Experience of working in complex R&D organisations
