Associate Principal Robotics Engineer – Modelling & Simulation

Science and Research
United Kingdom - Hullavington Office

About us.

Our robotics platform team is based in a dedicated robotics facility in Hullavington UK. We work in tight multi-disciplinary groups and push technologies from academia and research into innovative features for consumer products. We are expanding our projects and technology interests, and so we need new team members to join us!

About the role.

As we develop more complex, more optimal systems we need an expert in engineering analysis to join our systems engineering group. The group uses models and analysis to bring clarity from ambiguity and drive our understanding of the key trade studies needed to converge new product concepts.

Typical role responsibilities include:

  • Generating analytical models and simulations for mobile robots (including their payloads) to predict product performance and behaviour.
  • Performing engineering analysis on system models to identity key trade-offs and optimise performance.
  • Helping to define our product vision into clear and concise user, business, and product requirements.
  • Performing multi-dimensional sensitivity analysis at product, sub-system, and component level to identify which control parameters we need to actively manage throughout the lifecycle.
  • Developing and executing simulations to test system models.
  • Use MBSE methods (where appropriate) to develop architectures for our products and safety systems. Decomposing the problem into digestible functional, physical, and behavioural chunks.

About you.

We'd love for you to demonstrate a passion for your craft alongside displaying an innovative mindset across Robotics. In addition we'd very much like you to have the following experience:

  • Strong proficiency in a system modelling, engineering analysis and simulation.
  • Strong documentation, writing and presentation skills.
  • Hands-on experience using modelling and simulation tools such as Matlab  , Matlab App Designer, Simscape, Simulink, or Python.
  • Proven experience as a Systems Engineer.
  • Ideally, some relevant experience of using the Arcadia methodology or experience in building functional, logical, physical architectural models with other methods or notations.
  • A good engineering degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline.

  • Performance related bonus
  • Company paid Life Assurance
  • Discounts on Dyson machines
  • Competitive pension scheme
