About us
The Machine Learning team is responsible for delivering tangibly intelligent devices across all current, and future, product categories at Dyson.
Working alongside researchers, engineers, and designers, we blend cutting-edge machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques with an in-depth understanding of biomedical imaging, inventing novel solutions to 'impossible' problems.
Utilising the latest biomedical imaging systems and computational biology techniques to conduct rigorous qualitative and quantitative experiments and trials, you will play a pivotal role in a rapidly growing team to enable core functionality in products that most can’t even imagine.
About the role
Lead the technical development of an exciting project, imaging biological mechanisms and biofilm growth and correlating these systems and their interactions to mathematical models
Evaluate and benchmark state of the art imaging capabilities and machine learning methods for the capture and analysis of biomedical image data
Acting as a subject matter expert lead the development of experimental protocol for imaging of biological samples
Design and implement data collection and labelling strategy with a view to building core data-set for future analysis and machine learning applications
Roadmap the technical strategy for generating new to the business capability from early stage scientific investigation to identifying commercial applications of novel biological imaging technologies
Collaborate with academic and industrial partners to leverage externally available expertise
Design and develop clean, documented, and easy to maintain code
Produce reports and presentations summarising progress against team and project goals. Effectively and engagingly present complex technical information and analysis to senior management
Generate novel intellectual property
About you
Doctoral degree in Biomedical Imaging; Biomedical Physics, Imaging science ; or a closely aligned field, with industrial experience
Expert in the application of algorithms for image segmentation and analysis on large biomedical data sets, particularly when operating on noisy or incomplete data
Demonstratable experience of signal and image processing techniques would be desirable as would experience in the analysis of biochemical spectra (Optical microscope and other optical imaging modalities etc.)
Prior experience with biological samples and designing clinical trials will be preferred
Prior experience with Monte Carlo simulations for biological data generation will be useful
Expert knowledge of the development and implementation of machine learning algorithms
Experience in translating complex biological problems into machine learning and statistical problems, and computational models.
Ability to produce robust proof-of-concept code in Python, and detailed knowledge of the associated data analysis, machine learning and deep learning packages (pandas, scikit-learn, tensorflow, keras, etc…)
Enthusiasm to learn and share new methods and techniques with the rest of the team
Demonstrated experience working within multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams
Passionate about the technical and personal development of junior team members
