Our Energy Storage team are responsible for new battery technology that will deliver significantly better performance than conventional battery cells. About the role The Global Power Electronics & Energy Storage Development Team requires a Battery Engineer to support the design and development of battery systems for Dyson’s cordfree products. As part of the wider Global Engineering Organisation the successful candidate would be expected to engage across all categories and with multiple engineering disciplines, with their primary focus being to deliver comprehensive performance evaluations of lithium-ion cells when integrated into complex product systems. Accountabilities: * Performance Verification and Qualification Testing of new and existing cell technologies to support Product and Project Level performance requirements * Partner with Category and Design Engineering Development teams to translate product level goals into cell and pack level testing and performance targets * Develop and own Requirements where appropriate * Define feasible Deliverables * Working alongside Power Electronics, Firmware, Mechanical and Design Engineers - represent Cells Team during cross-functional discussions * Own, define and deliver against detailed level-3 plans; integrate own work plans against overall Project objectives and timelines About you * Cell and pack evaluation to include lifecycle testing, performance characterisation and abusive testing * Test setup and validation (hardware & software) * Liaising with product development teams to select appropriate cells and pack configurations to meet requirements * Develop and implement test methods in line with project requirements * Preparing written plans and documenting test methods used * Analysis of test results using Microsoft Excel, Python etc. * Reviewing data and presentation of results (Internal and External Stakeholders) * Provide specialist cell knowledge to projects * Fault-finding and Root cause analysis.
